According to the Sacramento Bee's Sam Amick two sources close to the Pistons have indicated the that the Pistons have considered a trade for the Kings' Ron Artest. Joe Dumars, for the record, may be glad this is getting out since he is reportedly tired of fans thinking he's sitting on his hands.

and why not....

July 25, 2008  08:30 AM ET

They need some fresh blood....

July 25, 2008  08:33 AM ET

This will never happen. The only way this would happen would be if the Pistons included both Prince and Wallace in a package including Artest, and the Pistons won't do that. The chemistry would become horrible as well. I'd like to see him go to a team in the East, but not the Pistons. Maybe the Wizards.......Trade Quincy Douby, Ron Artest, and Shelden Williams to Washington for Andray Blatche, Darius Songaila, DeShawn Stevenson, Oleksiy Pecherov, and a future 1st rounder.......

Wizards:
C - Brendan Haywood, JaVale McGee
PF - Antawn Jamison, Etan Thomas, Sheldon Williams
SF - Ron Artest, Dominic McGuire
SG - Caron Butler, Nick Young
PG - Gilbert Arenas, Antonio Daniels, Quincy Douby

The article says: "Joe Dumars, for the record, may be glad this is getting out since he is reportedly tired of fans thinking he's sitting on his hands."
Ironically, Joe Dumars is protecting his right to "sit on his hands" by threatening to make this trade. He's sending a silent message to the fans: "You want me to make a trade? Okay, I'll bring in your Public Enemy #1 - Ron Artest - if you really want me to make a trade. You better hope that I DON'T make any trades, so leave me alone."

Can you imagine a possible locker room with Artest and Rasheed Wallace...

July 25, 2008  08:46 AM ET

Wow JL... you must put alot of thought into that one... You made up a quote for him and everything. And Im guessing Denis24 has to be a Wizards fan, since he is saying the Pistons would have to put up Prince and Wallace for Artest, which is completely wrong, they would have to put up Prince and maybe some trash for Artest and some Trash. But you know since you think that Artest is worth 2 all-star calliber players if the Pistons want him, but a bunch of noname bums and the Lebron stopper if the Wizards want him, You must be having a better morning then most people... Was the Weeed That good?

July 25, 2008  08:55 AM ET

Wow, Sheed and Artest together? Interesting..I would who Detroit is going to trade to get Artest ..We shall see..

July 25, 2008  09:23 AM ET

what a joke....... they'd end up fighting themselves

July 25, 2008  09:50 AM ET

This would be great. Get rid of the classiest player in the league for the biggest loon. Artest and Sheed - I wanna party with them. This team will implode faster than Brittany Spears at an AA meeting.

"The only way this would happen would be if the Pistons included both Prince and Wallace in a package including Artest, and the Pistons won't do that."

- getting rid of wallace is a GOOD thing.
I like prince. But if Detroit really wanted to shake things up- it's not a bad deal-
I personally wouldn't do it-
I think Artest is a slight upgrade ofer prince-
but his POTENTIAL (he's been sane for a while) off-court baggage and mental discipline makes it not worth it

They'd end up the next generation of "Bad Boy" Pistons, that's for sure.

July 25, 2008  10:35 AM ET

This ain't happening, not after what Artest did in the Palace a few years back. I guess it's fun to speculate, though.

July 25, 2008  10:41 AM ET

Denis

Artest wld be better at SG than Caron......

That team wld look good on paper but major chemistry issues

July 25, 2008  10:51 AM ET

Sheed plus Amir Johnson (or Afflalo) and a draft pick for Artest and Kenny's butt load contract.
I say, make the deal

July 25, 2008  11:22 AM ET

As long as you work aroung his music career ; you will be fine.
