Boldin vents frustration with Cardinals

An afternoon storm, this one man-made, blew through the Northern Arizona campus Thursday just minutes after the team finished its conditioning test. Receiver Anquan Boldin didn't hide his unhappiness over his contract, telling reporters team officials deceived him by not following through on a promise to give him a new contract by the start of the season. Boldin said he has instructed his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to break off negotiations with the team. "At this point, I'm not even interested in a contract," said Boldin. "For me, it's been going on two years, and especially after last year, I was promised a deal would get done before the season. But the season's here and obviously that hasn't happened." Rosenhaus, however, met with General Manager Rod Graves in Phoenix Wednesday evening and travelled to Flagstaff and met with coach Ken Whisenhunt on Thursday. Rosenhaus spoke to a reporter a few hours before Boldin and never indicated that talks had broken off. In fact, he said there was hope because the two sides were still talking.

You signed the original contract, now work until it's completed. THEN you can argue for a new one.

The guy is signed through 2010. His team is pretty much capped out.....Not much leverage there..He will play regardless, he has said as much..

July 25, 2008  08:22 AM ET

Too bad the Cardinals, in an effort to make their team more popular, are trying to shut out Cowboy fans from their stadium. Don't they realize if they do that only 12 people will show up?

Shut up!!!! Then come to Philadelphia. We need a good receiver!

July 25, 2008  10:29 AM ET

In other news, new photos have been released of Boldin drawing a star over the top of the bird on his helmet using a blue sharpie. Specualtions loom as the media remains baffled as to what this behaviour might entail.

Anquan, it's not even PRE-SEASON yet...you're stil in training camp. Any chance you had of a deal is gone now...dumb****!

Boldin may deserve the contract, but he should shut up and play. No one should expect legitimate negotiations with the pathetic Cardinal management, anyway.

This is one of the reasons I am starting to hate professional sports. Agents lead players down this horrible path, and Rosenhaus is one of the worst. I think that if players want to continually do this, and cry because they want a better contract "because they outperformed" their current contract, that teams should be able to do the same. If a player does not "perform to their current contract level", then the team ought to be able to say that they are going to restructure them down to the level they played. Remember Eric "oh my knees hurt" Swann? Crybaby complained about his contract, was given a huge new one, then hardly played a down.

Players like Boldin ought to get a grip. YOU SIGNED THE DAMN CONTRACT, YOU PLAY. End of story. You make more in one season than a good portion of Americans will in their entire life. SHUT UP AND PLAY.
