Rams facing Jackson holdout?

Steven Jackson wasn't on the Rams' team charter to Wisconsin and hadn't arrived at camp, and many of the players were privately concerned that the Pro Bowl running back, and the team's most irreplaceable part, was preparing to stage a camp holdout.

What a surprise another holdout, they should have a T&R section just for NFL holdouts

July 25, 2008  08:22 AM ET

They should have an entirely seperate Internet for holdhouts.

July 25, 2008  08:29 AM ET

Each team has to have it's own share of idiots...

July 25, 2008  08:41 AM ET

This guy just came off of an injury season, in which he had a rough season for his caliber and he is holding out? Guess it makes sense to his side, but no way for the Rams

July 25, 2008  08:41 AM ET

Another holdout? Is there going to be enough players to start the season?

July 25, 2008  08:44 AM ET

This guy is a Top 5 RB who still had a 1,000 yds with no QB, no Offensive Line, and was hurt..............Pay him his money or someone else will.

July 25, 2008  08:52 AM ET

This is too funny..Now players want to holdout when its time for training camp..Didn't they know about their contracts beforehand..This is some bs..

July 25, 2008  09:00 AM ET

This guy has one year left on his contract. He like 99% of NFL players don't want to get franchised. He would like to get a long term contract done before next season.

July 25, 2008  09:31 AM ET

"...the team's most irreplaceable part..."?

He may be a great player, but this sure doesn't say much about the rest of the team. An RB is a replaceable part on a good team. Good luck to Ram's fans this year.

July 25, 2008  09:43 AM ET

Thanks, George. We're gonna need it.

I hope this is just a short term thing and not a protracted holdout on Stephen's part. The Rams need him in camp

July 25, 2008  10:39 AM ET

Jackson recently hired a new agent, so apparently he's talking with the team about a new deal and it could be signed soon. I know people don't like guys missing camp, but Jackson's in as good a shape as anybody. I don't even know if it's a full holdout. My feeling is he'll sign soon. He's only 25, so signing him for five or six years would be wise because he'll probably be a good player then too.

July 25, 2008  11:02 AM ET

He is the most talented piece of our aging offense. You'd think we were ready to disappear tomorrow with the "Jackson Holdout" and "Holt wants to play in Carolina". I still think we are a much better team than we played as last year. I still think we have a .500 team IF we got healthy, esp. in a Division where no one knows who is the clear-cut team (Other than Seattle always being talented).

July 25, 2008  11:04 AM ET

I agree, UCF24. I think the Rams are better than they appear, and no one in the division is going to be dominant.

I hope you are right and they get this resolved quickly and get Stephen into camp so this doesn't become a distraction.

July 25, 2008  12:04 PM ET

If this jumpstarts the Rams into offering him a contract, great! I'd hate for the Rams to go all season and watch him walk next season.

July 25, 2008  12:18 PM ET

Agreed, BluBstrd

July 25, 2008  02:57 PM ET

I didn't see this happening now but hopefully it gets resolved quickly. He is definitely irreplaceable and deserves to be paid more at this point in his career.

July 25, 2008  06:29 PM ET

Frig him - cut him - prima donna !!!

July 27, 2008  06:25 PM ET

In response to BluBstrd, he wouldn't walk the next year. The team would franchise him, but they don't want to reach that point with him.

July 28, 2008  12:34 PM ET

Yeah Jackson seems to like St. Louis, I'll see what "my source" (... It's Brandon Williams) has to say about it... we trained together with my track coach this summer and all those guys are close.
