Why Avs re-signed Svatos

The Avalanche this morning agreed to contract terms with right wing Marek Svatos, the team's second-leading goal-scorer last season despite an injury that limited him to 62 games. Svatos agreed to a two-year, $4.1 million deal, which will pay him $1.75 million in 2008-09 and $2.35 million the following season. By signing, he avoided arbitration, which he filed for earlier this month. Svatos, 26, scored 26 goals before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Avalanche management believes Svatos has made a good recovery, however, and the Slovakian winger will be counted on this season, probably with a role on one of the top two lines.

"Why Avs re-signed Svatos"

Because they wanted to?

Because they need him?

Because they can afford him?

Because ...... well ...... you get the picture!

Not a huge money for a probable 30-40 goal scorer (if he stays healthy and is placed on a scoring line)

This is one of the ONLY good moves the AVs have made

This wuss reporter is really covering his ****.
Stamkos was the number 2 scorer on the team...and the reporter still used the modified 'probably' when refering to a role on one of the top 2 lines.
