Tomas deserves everything he's got, he's earned it. A lot of players couldn't takes the hits he's taken and come back for more. The refs screwed him over a few times but he still did his job-Go Wings, back to back

I can???t believe what I'm reading here! What's next? Are they going to serve Holy Communion out of the cup too? After all the scandals, some men of the cloth will do anything for a little extra attention, even if it involves desecrating the Sacraments!

Baptism and Holy Communion are the two Sacraments of the Church! Not only are the Elements (water, wine & wafer) Holy but the Vesels used for those Sacraments are also Consecrated and Holy. How does a vesel that's been defecated into a week before and desecrated in God knows how many ways, fall into that category?

I don???t blame the laymen (Holmstrom and whoever), they don't know any better! But that priest? Where does he get off doing something like this? He ain't no man of God! If Holmstrom is a man of faith (which he seems to be) he'd do himself and his family a favor if he found a different minister to attend to their spiritual needs!

DCruiser, we (the Swedes) are not as hardcore in our christian as you north american people are. Since all the catholic / christian stuff with Martin Luther got down Sweden has regressed more and more, but we're still considered a "christian" country as we still have churches, and baptism etc. We just don't take it as "serious" as you do.

I do understand that part, Dashiva. And, as I said, I don't blame a lay person (Holmstrom in this case). But I am just appalled that a priest would go along with it. Perhaps the priest's nonchalant attitude towards Holy things would explain, at least in part, the regression you speak of.

Just because something is cute or cool, doesn't make it right. Sacred things must remain Sacred. Otherwise it becomes sacrilege!

DCruiser, yeah, I guess you're right. The church is still considered a holy place in Sweden, ie you don't curse in there etc, stuff like that. So yeah, I guess I do kind of agree with you, but for me it's more like... meh. But that's probably because I'm agnostic =). Anyway, you're right =).

DC I agree with you on several points, but disagree at the same time. For quite some time the church as attempted to create uniformity amongst the sacraments (aka every sacrament must be performed exactly according to how the church says it should be done), thus restraining individuality amongst people recieving a given sacrament. While I agree the priest should have thought twice about using the cup to perform such a sacrament, I applaud the priest for allowing someone to put their own unique touches on a religious ceremony, which is something that is severely lacking in todays Catholic/Christian world. I myself (an active Roman Catholic) find nothing wrong with this, although I can see some of the more conservative members of the church community being appalled by this.

Regardless, the sacrament itself is still sacred, no matter what "vessel" is used to administer it.

I never even bothered to get my 2 kids baptized (much to my mother's chagrin) but if I had gone through with the pagan ritual the Cup would have been as good as any blessed baptismal font.
