The NHL has investigated Tampa Bay's hiring of Greg Malone as director of pro scouting immediately preceding the team's signing of his son, left winger Ryan Malone, to a seven-year free agent contract worth $4.5M per, and has cleared the Lightning of circumvention of the CBA as defined by Article 26, deputy commissioner Bill Daly told Slap Shots.

Silly money for Ryan...and Daddy got the job because he knew he could bring his son to Tampa....Under the new Tampa ownership...expect plenty of long looks and investications by the NHL in the future.

"Investications"? (Right back at ya, Baun-ded.) :-)

This article is really a no-issue from a Pens' point-of-view. We all knew Malone was gone so if the rest of the league has a problem with it then let them worry about it.

If there was an issue, what took them so long? The dad was signed on and then they got his boy the next day. Or was the NHL and FanNation too focused on all of the Sundin issues?
