Favre won't go to Packers camp

Three new storylines emerged in the Brett Favre Saga Saturday night, as the 38-year-old temporarily unemployed quarterback decided to smoke the peace pipe with Packers general manager Ted Thompson -- for now -- and shelve plans to show up at the opening of Green Bay's training camp Sunday. Favre may be playing this high-stakes game with the Packers, with a new referee: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who told Favre late Saturday afternoon in a telephone conversation he would do what he could to try to help Favre and the team come to a decision both sides could live with. But as Saturday night turned into Sunday, it was virtually impossible to see what that solution might be.

Will Favre stay hunkered-down in the Redneck Riveria?

Or will Favre emerge from his short-term redneck retirement plan and play again for ???

More will be revealed.

who else is sick of these garbage stories?

July 27, 2008  11:26 AM ET

Favre should have applied for reinstatement by now so every team could know what his game plan is.

Cassidy's Livin' in Tyle

Favre has no strategy: he just wants to play, no matter who is affected.

I think we all are. This is tough choice, previous thread had some very difficult questions to answer....I think we are all tired of posting our opinions and thoughts and moments later nearly anyone can post a thought or idea that completely blows us out of the water--this is a lose-lose for everyone .....or is it win-win....????? arrgh

Kill all REDNECKS.

BOYCOTT SI.........that's the only to get these boneheads to lighten up. Obviously this is a MONEY driven story, and has NOTHING to do with ACTUAL "new" news!

July 27, 2008  01:25 PM ET

You know what else I'm tired of? My F'n computer keys and my busted up fingers! Can't type for crap anymore!! Damn Army ruined me! lol

July 27, 2008  01:36 PM ET

I'm a Packer fan but Goodel needs to stay out of this one.....for the good of the game.

No one player is bigger than the team or the game.

One other thing, if Brett is in such demand and people think he still has MVP skills, where are all the teams asking permission to speak to him?

Favre is a hard head, causing drama after drama, story after story, hes hard headed, dont care what he has to do long as his old washed out arse gets to play.

I cant wait til he signs on a team just so I can watch him go lower and lower and lower, yep itll happen.

July 27, 2008  02:21 PM ET

When will it end?

July 27, 2008  02:22 PM ET

I'm sick and tired now of waking up every morning, turning on the sports news and there is that Favre nonsense.

July 27, 2008  03:54 PM ET

I hope the Favre lemmings follow him off the edge of a cliff. I'm sure they would say the pain was worth it. They seem to like pain.

I hope this story drags on and on and on so that even the Favre fans feel it is no longer worth it to suffer through this media Bonanza. The drugs will eventually wear off and they will start going through withdrawal.

I've never seen so many people take time out of their busy day to comment on a story they have no interest in. "I'm so disgusted by this story that I ALMOST chose not to read it and comment on it."

That said....

It would be legitimate for the Packers to insist he honour his contract and play for Green Bay, if they want him. And it's legitimate for them o say they don't want a 38 year old guy who unretires all the time. I get that.

But you can't not want him but not want him to play elsewhere. Life ain't like that. If you don't want him, someone else does. Deal with it.
