Should Isles hire Trottier?

Bob Hartley, fired by the Thrashers for, among other transgressions, his failure to use young players (cough, cough, Braydon Coburn), is interviewing for the Islanders' head-coaching job, and what's wrong with this picture? John Tortorella, who will have his pick of jobs once coaches of contenders begin going down this winter, is talking today to the Islanders about their vacancy, and what's that all about? Bryan Trottier, meanwhile, in the organization and compatible with ownership, would be an outstanding choice at this time to coach this team. So would Butch Goring. And then there's Ulf Samuelsson, an assistant in Phoenix, who may or may not be ready for his first head-coaching gig, but sure is ready for an interview.

Trotts is a career winner as a player. He certainly would get immediate respect from the Islander players...expecially with Goring as his assistant. Ulf...please no.

Snow needs to quit playing with his Wang ( or vice versa ) and find somebody to lead the team in bailing a sinking ship bucket by bucket.

Maybe we should blame the Islanders last season on man games missed?
LIke some other teams fans do...
Afterall, the NYI had more man games missed than any other team in the NHL last season....
Maybe they will stay healthy this year and be a surprise...maybe.

i doubt it Baun-ded. I see them being a disgrace again.

I guarantee they will lick serious pole next year and the year after that and the year after that and so on .

The downfall of the Senators had more to do with the final eastern division standings then any other factor there BGMWannabe...count your blessings.

The "I" in Team | 07/27/08, 12:52 PM: "Snow needs to quit playing with his Wang" and, yeah, Wang should quit playing with his "snow" unless he inhales the whole stash .... all at once! Maybe then there would be hope for the Islanders.

Until something like that happens, hiring Bryan Trottier is pointless! It would be a waste of talent and, he's too much man for them to handle!

Whoa! I said 'Keep it Classy' not 'Keep it Creepy'.

DCruiser is all too right on. Sad to say.
Trottier was a great player. Doesn't mean he'd be a great coach. The Islanders had a great coach - and what did Snow and Wang Chung do, they fired him. Why should anyone else fare better - Trottier is surely not as good a coach as Nolan. And obviously, Snow and WC don't listen to anyone - they don't learn apparently.

Where is the loyalty for coaches in hockey? Look at the tenures in the other pro sports and the difference is huge. I mean when a coach has been with a hockey team for 3 years it is now none too common.

Absofrigginlutely the Isles should be a courtin' Trottier. He has actually been a player coach and an assistant in the bigs.

And he has a huge spinal column and some team history so I'd wager Snow would not outlive him.
