Anaheim will most assuredly move defenseman Mathieu Schneider, his puck-moving abilities, and his $5.625 million contract to a club that can absorb such a cap hit.

Should have stayed in Detroit, free agent, it's not always location and money

July 27, 2008  11:58 AM ET

Would love to see him move over to LA. They could use the experience during the development and it would help with the cap.

July 27, 2008  12:39 PM ET

He is not worth that kind of money...Never was IMO.

July 27, 2008  12:48 PM ET

The Hawks could use another veteren on the Blue line

July 27, 2008  01:16 PM ET

Don''t rile me BGM...

July 27, 2008  01:20 PM ET

His effectiveness with Detroit was no doubt due mostly to the talent of his teammates, so he did make a mistake leaving the Wings; however, I doubt they would have paid more than $3-4m dollars a season.

I think they knew his talent was declining, particularly his ability play the body in the defensive zone, and weren't going to pay colossal money for an above-average skater when they have young talent galore.

Why Anaheim would pay that kind of money for a stats player is beyond me, but their GM is off his rocker... so it doesn't shock me.

I think we have managed to rile T&R. They are removing all the protest comments on the Sundin thread. Pfft. Spoilsports.

July 27, 2008  01:55 PM ET

That, BGM, is Carlos Sastre, who won the Tour de France today.
My second post on the Sundin thread is still there, but who knows for how long?!

July 27, 2008  02:06 PM ET

The Tour is over, the cyclists arrive in Paris today. As far as the doping issue is concerned, if you are interested have a look at Bigalke's blog about stage 7, which addresses this issue in detail. Be sure to scroll down and read the posts too.

Oilers guy...I did a TD with Bigalke on this subject...I think we tied...check my profile for it if you want...It was an early one so it will be near the bottom of my TD list.

July 27, 2008  03:21 PM ET

Thanks Baun-ded, I'll check it out.

July 27, 2008  03:22 PM ET

BGMwannabe....is Epaminondas re-incarnate. Visits his Auntie no doubt.>lol

July 27, 2008  03:34 PM ET

Columbus could use a puck moving defenseman. We have cap space and have been trading partners with the Ducks before.

I think a lot of teams could use a defenceman that can move the puck

I found the TD and it was indeed tied; no wonder with the quality of the arguments. I've read it through a couple of times now and I still don't know which way I would have voted. The comments section was as interesting as the main arguments too.
Thanks for the referral.
Isn't it about time you did another TD? ;)

July 27, 2008  06:23 PM ET

He be done or very near to it! Certainly not worth anywhere near that kind of coin, as Cryin' Burke found out! He might help somebody as a spare somewhere but not for that kind of money!

July 27, 2008  06:59 PM ET

"Who does he think he is? Jeff Finger?"

Zing. Nice :)

July 27, 2008  11:21 PM ET

He scored some big goals for the Wings on PP. The Ducks didn't use him right.

July 27, 2008  11:50 PM ET

Ottawa will likely make room for him. They have room. And they need somebody to play the point on powerplays.

But he won't be enough to fix the Sens' woes.

This rumor is so old. I've heard this since the draft.
