Huskies frosh may enroll late
UW coach Tyrone Willingham said there is a chance that incoming freshmen QB Dominique Blackman, DT Craig Noble and RB Demitrius Bronson may not enroll until January and almost certainly won't be there when camp begins Aug. 4. Noble may be the most vital of the three to get into camp as quickly as possible since he plays a position where there are some huge needs. Reports are that Noble needs a passing score on the California High School Exit Exam. Bronson and Blackman each have test score and GPA issues. Willingham, however, said he didn't anticipate any other academic problems.

I don't know why people hate Willingham so much. He was successful at Stanford, ran into a buzzsaw at ND, and is getting it together pretty well at UDub. In fact, this team should make a bowl this year. What's the deal?

What other academic issues could there possibly be?

Ty is a good person. NOT a good football coach. Plus he can't recruit!!
I hear he can play golf, maybe he ahould give it a try.
George, what makes you thing he's "getting it together pretty well" at Wahington?? He's 11- 25 in three years!

Ty is a great man and a good football coach...pac ten recruiting is difficult when Oregon, SC and UCLA are lookin at the same kid..

I don't buy that, Wa2. If Kansas (KANSAS!) can make a run of it in the Big 12, a team that won a national title as recently as the 90s should be able to be competitive, even in the Pac 10.

Back off Tyrone. At least let the season start before you call for his head.

Being a Washington fan, as well as someone who hates Ty Willingham, I'll be the first to curse his existence. But I can't help but shut down all of those who knock his recruiting, especially you babies in South Bend. Do you happen to remember the two BCS games worth of recruits he gave you? Or those names you hold as sacred when you bow down to the touchdown Jesus (Quinn, Samardzija, etc). Oh I'm sorry I guess I should have kept quiet, Big Charlie has pulled in that fur jacket wearing pansy, who if he is lucky, Jake Locker might let clean his cleats after the game. And for the Sooners fans, you have a great program and tradition, but really? Boise State?

There is no surer way to get Husky fans yelling at each other these days than to bring up the coach. This year will be key and it depends on one Jake Locker. Anti-Ty fans have been fond of pointing out that Ron Zook had a breakout year at Illinois in his third year, while Ty struggled--the key point is that Zook's year was his talented quarterback's second year, which is what Locker is headed into now. Ty needs some wins and a bowl this year--I, for one, hope he gets it, and if he does, it will be on the talented limbs of his QB.

Ha Ha Ha!
"Do you happen to remember the two BCS games worth of recruits he gave you?"
Yeah I do, but I also remember he couldn't coach 'em worth a damn! Samardzija DIDN'T EVEN START!!!!!!!!
He could get the skill players, but it's the OL & DL that he couldn't get.
See if you can follow this...
Willingham started at Notre Dame in the first week of January with only four weeks until Signing Day. The 2002 recruiting class had committed under Davie. Arguably, Willingham won in 2002 with Davie???s players. With a 10-3 year, the Irish should have been very successful on the recruiting trail. Tyrone???s time to step up and continue to fill out the OL was 2003.
In 2004, Willingham loses miserably in recruiting offensive line help. Neither Kadous nor Incarnato were sought after by the top programs. Allen Smith, a top tackle who visited the Irish a number of times, chooses Stanford over Notre Dame because he ???could nourish my full potential as a football player and a student???. High school coaches are sending their players elsewhere, having not connected with the new staff. Rumors spout up that Willingham is not returning coaches??? calls about their prospects for the Irish. Prospects complain of not hearing from the Irish coaching staff for extended periods and choose other schools. The Irish faithful prepare for spring knowing they will have only ten offensive linemen until the two recruits arrive before football season.
Willingham???s total offensive line recruiting in three years at Notre Dame ??? three!!! One per year!!! Ryan Harris, John Sullivan and Paul Duncan.
Can you tell me how many kids have committed to Washington as of today????

Thats why I love America..it allows us to voice our differences...I like Ty and think he is a great man, so much so that I insisted that my son go to ND when he was recruiting him..some may disagree, but what was important to me was how I felt about the guy,not Tom, ****, or Sooner Girl..Kansas has always been known as a basketball power house, ever since Wilt went there in the 1900's...

HailDawg: Yes, Boise State.
All you Huskies, fans, I wasn't trying to knock your beloved Huskies. I was trying to say you guys deserve better. And it's my understanding, based on the reports of my family and friends who live in Seattle, that this is Ty's last year.
And Wa2, obviously Kansas is a bball powerhouse. That's what makes their rise to prominence in fball that much more impressive. The bball program gets all the attention, all the money, all the support. What Mangino has done there is little less than a miracle. If he can accomplish so much at KU, I should think a competent fb coach would have an awful lot to show at a program like U-Dub.
Apologies if I offended anyone, it certainly wasn't my intent.

My original post went a little like this...
All you ND cry babies are pathetic. You keep looking for excuses to why your team has been horrid of late and lost their last 8 bowl games (im not going to take the time to look it up, probably more)?? Quit blaming TY.
Ty is a good coach, and this is coming from a Washington State student, the dawgs are our instate rivals. He has had good, top tier recruits (not for 2009 yet). He snagged the 2 belevue studs who ended De La Salle's 12-year 151 game winnning streak. JR hasty, though he couldnt get over his ego to fit into TY's military style program was possibly better than Jonathan Stewart. (I played against both in high school and thought Hasty was better). Hasty rushed for over 300 yards again La Salle. Ty also Inked EJ Savanah...the LB who hits so hard he takes souls. Jake Locker...????.....
Jake Locker is often refered to the West Coast Tim Tebow, but I disagree. I would call him the West Coast Pat White. The kid fly's...4.3,4.4. speed. If he can improve his passing skills a bowl is gaurenteed for the dawgs. I predict UW upsets over BYU (if that counts) and Oklahoma (because they are at home and that place is jumping, I couldnt even hear myself think during Applecup last year).... the main reason I see them beating Oklahoma is for the same reason Pat White and WVU ran wild over them in the Fiesta Bowl.
I predict UW will end with a better record than ND this season, and beat them when they meet this year. Locker will do a 200rush 200+passing night. Look to last season... at home ND lost to USC 38-0. At home UW lost to USC 27-24 in the final minute.
While WSU is in rebuilding mode (new program AND new stadium renovation..we finally have a high tech jumbo tron).... we will beat the Dawgs when they come to the Palouse (yes, just like last year in football... and the previous 3 years in basektball). Anyone who saw Gary Rogers play in the first series of the second half against Auburn know he should of been starting over Brink the last 2 seasons. Our D should be solid but I highly doubt we make a bowl run.
The last statement from my original post went like this :).
Hands down Pullman, WA is the hardest place to play in the nation. Teams fly into Spokane, WA. They then drive 105 minutes through the empty country side and rolling palouse. They arrive to Pullman with freezing temperautes...probably rain possibly snow. Thats without mentioning the rowdy drunken fans that will be awaiting them. Oregon now requests extra security when they visit town after some harassments that happened a few seasons ago. It's sad really, aside from the our conference top tier opponents that come to the Palouse...no out of conference foe will come. Auburn paid 2mil to get out of their return trip. OSU will open or season this year, but it had to be played in Seattle to get them to come to Washington. I wish the NCAA would make a rule that made teams do the return trip...I mean with all the rules they have involving money and college athletics, you shouldnt be able to pay your way out of a tough venue.

No kidding, zy. Fannation has got the worst architecture. I kept thinking Time/CNN/SI or whoever would clean it up but apparently not. It is what it is, I guess.
Locker is definitely a threat against OU. Sooners always have trouble with a passing QB...barely got past Tulsa last year. Locker's a little inconsistent, though. Still curious to see who officiates the game. It's the Sooners' first trip to the Pac10 since the 2006 Oregon game.
Don't overlook BYU. They should be really good this year. Wouldn't be surprised if they're the top-finishing non-BCS squad headed into the bowls. With a little luck they could go undefeated.
