Why D'backs won't trade for Teixeira

The D'backs are a potential player for Mark Teixeira. However, Conor Jackson's nice year, versatility (he's good in left as well as at first) and contractual situation (he's not eligible for free agency for three more years) would make him off-limits for Texiera.

I think the list is longer than Connor Jackson

Done. I'll shoot him with pleasure, just to watch him die.

Anyone have the number of a loose morraled priest?

July 28, 2008  11:49 AM ET

then they don't get tex. boo-hoo.

tex is a beast, especially in the 2nd half. the braves gave up 5 prospects (and andruw jones because of $) for tex. they aren't just going to give him away for chump change now.

tex to a contender, i feel, takes them to at least a league championship series.

the d-backs aren't good enough to beat any of the top NL central or east teams in a series, right now. they need a guy like tex to push them over the top, they just have to have the guts to take the risk or they can be booted in the 1st round.

We'll see how it plays out. The Braves pulled Teixiera in the sixth inning yesterday...... vs. an inter division rival..... wonder why? expect a trade announcement today or tomorrow.

That is....

Tex would make a great fit in Arizona. Those guys need consistent production and a veteran bat.

Still, it's understandable that the D-Backs would be hesitant to pretend they'll be able to sign him at the end of the year. Tex probably won't get moved before the end of the year, but he'll likely wind up back in the AL for 2009.

July 28, 2008  04:32 PM ET

Gonna be hard for anybody to take Tex for the last 3 months and then not be able to sign him for next year because he will have a HUGE proce tag. MLB needs a salary cap

July 28, 2008  04:49 PM ET

It'$ the money$$

July 28, 2008  06:30 PM ET

I think the Dbacks are holding back because they know that he probably won't be able to resign him as well, and Connor Jackson could soon end up like Teixiera. Teixiera is a great player, but he will leave to join a better paying contender. I think Mark will not get traded because the Dbacks know that Connor Jackson is an up and coming star, while Teixiera is already a star. I think the Braves would rather take the two draft picks instead off not getting the Deal they want. Come next year, Teixiera will be wearing #25 with the New York Yankees.

July 28, 2008  07:23 PM ET

I'm a Red Sox fan and I don't want him either !!!

July 28, 2008  10:08 PM ET

I'm a Yankee fan and would take him in heartbeat. Mark and Giambi can blatoon at 1st and DH all next year. Giambi's contract is up though so we'll see what happens with him.

July 28, 2008  10:11 PM ET

On another note the fact that Hub Man said he is a Red Sox fan and that he doesn't want Teixiera is an awesome thing to hear.

So not only are you going to lose Manny but now your not going to try and get Teixiera... Man-o-man... Ya gotta love X-mas in July in New York.

2 out of 3 buddy boy!!!

he is an east coast guy. he whined like a bee otch in texas for years. he turned down hellacious money to stay. I think he will be a hated yank next year. d backs would be fools to give up anything of value for him because he does not cotton to life west of the mississippi .
