Red Sox dismiss Tejada rumor

A week ago the Red Sox shot down rumors of a possible deal for White Sox backup shortstop Juan Uribe. Now, a few days later there's a Houston Chronicle report of Boston having interest in Miguel Tejada, which has also been completely dismissed. According to team and league sources the answer again is "not interested." The Red Sox have no intention of taking on any of Tejada's personal baggage (Mitchell Report and feds investigation). The Sox are still trying to acquire a relief pitcher and if they had any interest in an Astro in would be for 41-year-old righty reliever Doug Brocail, who has held righties to a .189 average.

The Sox dont need this boy. He has too much baggage and he that good anyway if he was taking roids. He's just another wanna be. Wheeling and dealing roids is bad for your health.

Do not trade for any SS let alone this bum. He was great but is no longer great. Let Lowrie stay at SS for the rest of the year. He is this years Pedroia.

He had a great April and a good May. He's slipped dramatically since May.

Not really sure if Lowrie will be the answer or not.

Why would anyone attach themselves to this cancer? He's obviously not an honest athlete, and he is also a bad teammate.

As a Red Sox player, he would be cleared from the Mitchell Report. Its a win-win for both Tejada and the redsox.

I don't know why the Red Sox would even consider Tejada....

July 29, 2008  10:15 AM ET

the red sox are stacked all over..they wouldnt be that stupid to pull off a tejada trade...especially when the astros you KNOW are going to ask for WAY too much because he is playing pretty good and they gave up a bit to get him from the O's if anybody remembers...

Because Tejada is an offensive force that plays SS. Like him or not he would improve the Red Sox lineup.

I wouldnt care for Tejeda, he is old and besides, we got Lowrie now....he will be a great player, and allow us to get rid of Lugo!

The Sox don't really want Tejada. But we would like to get rid of Lugo and his contract.

July 29, 2008  04:06 PM ET

Tejada would be a fine pickup...like 6 years ago

July 29, 2008  04:19 PM ET

So to get rid of Lugo's contract, the Sox take on the Tejada contract? Logic anyone?

July 29, 2008  06:40 PM ET

I say he goes to the Angels...

July 29, 2008  06:41 PM ET

Ok, I cheated. I just saw it on mlb.com
