Joe Horn wants out of Atlanta

Veteran wide receiver Joe Horn, back from a months-long, self-imposed exile, spent time after practice Sunday running routes and catching balls something he didn't do during the actual morning session of training camp. Horn mostly watched practice because he's not fully ready to participate. "When I left, I didn't study the playbook," Horn said. "My emotions let my study habits with the playbook leave. I stayed in shape, but I didn't study my playbook." Horn's distanced himself from all things Falcons the past two months because he wants to be traded. The 13-year veteran asked out early this summer after a mandatory mini-camp at which he said he felt he was being put to pasture in favor of younger players. Horn skipped all voluntary team functions, including six weeks of offseason team activities [OTAs], which are basically non-contact practices.

What a great attitude, definitely the type of team-first player I would be willing to give up draft picks for.

You signed a multi-year contract and in year two you want out. "But Vick isn't the QB!! WAHHHH!!!" Hey moron, THAT IS A GOOD THING!

"Joe Horn wants out of Atlanta"

No **** Sherlock, who doesn't want out of Atlanta!! He may get his wish because it is very likely he'll be cut before the 53 man roster comes out.

Joe, I'll bet that Atlanta wants rid of you more than you want out of Atlanta. For the type of production you produced over the last few years, you'll be lucky if the CFL isn't your only calling. I hear the Argonauts need a second team, low production, whiney receiver.

Hey, Joe. I hear the Jaguars are looking for wide receivers.

July 29, 2008  08:47 AM ET

First, New Orleans. Now, Atlanta. Say it ain't so, Joe!

July 29, 2008  09:07 AM ET

Joe's hissy fit is his strategy to raise interest from other teams? Brilliant.

July 29, 2008  09:22 AM ET

Everybody wants out of Atlanta.......

July 29, 2008  09:29 AM ET

i don't really think that Joe is happy anywhere, he wanted out of New Orleans got his wish, now in atlanta he wants out.. i think you should suck it up and get on with your life after football...

Too bad. That contract makes it impossible to trade him. No one will pick that up and give more than a 7th rounder in return. Better learn the playbook Joe. Office Max has a sale on sharpies this week, but I do not think you will need more than one.

Hey, Joe. I hear the Jaguars are looking for wide receivers.

Lady's Coach Belicat | 07/29/08, 08:39 AM

I'd take him over Terry Glenn for sure.

July 29, 2008  09:51 AM ET

but no team outside of atlanta wants him

July 29, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Not sure Atlanta is that crazy about him either....

July 29, 2008  12:09 PM ET

he's just a falcons cheerleader

July 29, 2008  12:30 PM ET

Good fit in Big D, most likely. They're a contender in need of a Vet WR (since they're now sans Glenn).

July 29, 2008  12:47 PM ET

Yeah, me too. No mo ATL..75 is a nightmare, Braves suck, gettin tired of Varsity and clubbing, 98* more often than 78*...It's time to go.

July 29, 2008  12:56 PM ET

Funny thing, these primma donnas throw a hissy, get better contracts, new teams etc and then try to use the same ploy again 2-3 yrs laters. Hmm, let's see older, slower, and now stuck with a deal that no one wants to touch?!! Hows that workin out?

July 29, 2008  01:04 PM ET
