Five teams ask A's about Street

A's GM Billy Beane is fielding offers from teams and still may deal closer Huston Street. The Dodgers, Rays, Brewers, White Sox and Mets have all checked in. It's believed the Mets are reluctant to surrender their top prospects, though, so it may be tough for them to get Street. Another possibility for the Mets would be to promote hard-throwing reliever Eddie Kunz at some point this year.

The Brewers would be the best fit as they have a closer problem. Torres had been doing good but has been shaky of late.

He'd be a great set-up guy for Wagner. That would put less strain on Heilman and the rest of the 'pen, and put Wagners and the starters mind at ease knowing they've got someone with consistancy stepping up for them.

So if the Mets are interested...why aren't the Phillies? Street setting up Lidge is lights out. And for the record, I pray the Mets call up a guy named Eddie Kunz. That's just too easy.

Yeah, at least that way you'll be able to laugh when he's shutting you down. :P

Mets get huston street make him a set up guy this year only, trade wagner and his big mouth for a prospect and woolah! u have a great closer for the next 12 years

I think Street will get dealt. If I'm picking, I say the Brewers with the Rays as an outside shot.

July 30, 2008  08:57 AM ET

Mets aren't getting him. They're not giving up some of the very few untouchables they have.

He'd be a perfect fit for the Rays.

It's funny-
I used to think Minaya was an elite GM-

After seeing the moves & non-moves he has made........
he has really lost my faith.

The mets need a CORNER OF......
if they are going to give up their top prospect-
it needs to be for THAT......NOT a set-up man
