Illini guard in trouble again
Just a few months before junior guard Jamar Smith was expected to return to the basketball court for Illinois, a prosecutor said Tuesday she wants a judge to revoke his probation for allegedly drinking alcohol. Smith, who is from Peoria, is serving two years of probation after pleading guilty last year to felony driving under the influence causing great bodily harm. He drove a car into a tree on a snowy night in February 2007, injuring former teammate Brian Carlwell. Under the terms of Smith's probation, he can't drink. Champaign police allegedly spotted Smith outside a campus bar, Fubar, about 2:30 a.m. Friday while they broke up an argument. Smith wasn't involved in the argument but, according to police, an officer noticed Smith smelled like alcohol. When police asked, Smith admitted he had been drinking.

How stupid do you have to be to be hanging out in a bar, drinking, after being on probation for almost killing your teammate

I blame the tree for not getting out of the way. Can you just feel the irony in getting busted for alcohol in Champaign Illinois?

How is this even possible? I would use this in court, ask the officer how he "noticed" someone's odor? There goes probable cause.
Except for that little fact there was a fight at a club at 2:30am. Damn those little details!

I agree. Everybody does some stupid things when they are young......but when you do something serious, and don't learn from it.......you're just an idiot.
