Lamar Odom can't go anywhere without hearing his name being mentioned along with Lakers teammate Andrew Bynum and the team's No. 1 draft pick (19) in a deal for Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal. Odom, who has two years and $27,397,192 left on his contract, said he would seek an extension if he is traded. Odom has been getting treatment for his shoulder three days a week and said he hasn't talked to the Lakers about the trade talks.

yeah i trade Odom. What da **** contract that Lakers gave it to him. Odom and Bynum for Jermaine or KG. He is outta LA with Bynum. Bynum might stay in LA.

June 9, 2007  09:39 AM ET

I am not a fan Odom, he is inconsistent, makes poor decision on shooting the ball at a wrong time of the game...but with this trade rumor to Indiana with Bynum for Jermaine O'Neil....I don't know, I think its too much to give up for Lakers...not sold on O'Neil...Odom and other Laker stiff for O'Neil but not Bynum.

June 9, 2007  10:04 AM ET

I really hope that these are just "rumors." 3 years ago, I would have loved to have O'Neal on my team, but not anymore. He is more inconsistent than Odom, has a short temper and hasn't gotten along with any coach he has had in the NBA. Plus, the triangle offense is based on a point-forward, which Odom is the ideal.

Garnett is a different story, but even putting him in the same sentence with O'Neal is an unjustice. Add in a potential star in Bynum and you have the making of an extremely lopsided trade. There is a reason Indi is shopping O'Neal, and no logical reason why the Lakers should entertain this trade.

June 9, 2007  10:17 AM ET

I hope Kupcake is not thinking of doing that trade. This is my proposal: Odom, Cook and Vlad for JO. Kwame, Farmar, Sash, 07 1st round pick and 08 1st round pick for Artest and Bibby. Bibby, Kobe, Artest, JO and Bynum!!!!!!!!!

June 9, 2007  10:43 AM ET

That is WAY too much for the lakers to give up. If they get rid of Odom, they are moving backwards. If Odom would have stayed healthy last season the lakers wouldn't be considering it. Odom, Bynum and a draft pick is too much for O'Neal. First of all, O'Neal is coming off an injury so who knows how his performance will be. Second. O'Neal is extremely overpaid making 27 million for 2 seasons, thats almost Kobe money. I haven't heard a word about Jermaine O'Neal for a couple seasons now. I mean, yea he is friends with Kobe but your basically trading talent at the 4 for talent less talent at the 5. So the Lakers will have O'Neal, but who's gonna play the 4? Cook??? Somebody who has no chance at making a jumpshot if he dribbles the ball first. Maybe Turiaf? The Lazy Lakers could all learn from his hussle. They should be trading Bynum and a pick for O'Neal if it wasnt for his contract. Give up Lamar. and we are right back where we started. They cant get rid of bynum because They have to get rid of MIhm and Brown this year. Mihm is just wasting space on the team and Kwame is just Kwame. Anyway, we need to hang on to either Odom or Bynum, one or the other, or its pointless. And I dont even want to talk about how many O'Neal to O'Neal comparisons and jokes that I DONT WANT TO HEAR. Like Hook EM said, there is a reason that the pacers are looking to trade THEIR BEST PLAYER. Odom is already familiar with the triangle. that sets O'Neal back 2 years in learning it. When Odom is healthy and actually able to concentrate on Basketball rather than the horrible tragedy in his life, Im, sure he can get a consistant 20pts, 10rebs, 5 assists a game. How many times did he either get triple doubles last year, or come within 1 or 2 assists. KEEP LAMAR ODOM. 10 times better value than O'Neal, without bynum and the 19 pick.,, And for those of you that will somehow use this article to blame kobe for SOMETHING....

STOP HATIN ON KOBE

June 9, 2007  10:59 AM ET

Lakers Fans.... listen up

Odom is a slightly above average NBA player.
Bynum is still called a work in progress.

Get over it, if the Lakers are committed to creating a team that may, might maybe be a 5th or 6th seed in the west.

Keep Bryant and entertain trades on any or all other players

period.

June 9, 2007  11:27 AM ET

I like Lamar. I have said that before. I say they should keep him. Is Jermaine O'Neal really that much more of an improvement over him? In my mind, no.

June 9, 2007  11:38 AM ET

exactly, with so many AVERAGE players in the nba, why get rid of a slightly above average player, for a slightly above average player who sucker punches fans in the face.

June 9, 2007  11:38 AM ET

Bynum isn't going to be traded anywhere; within the next three years he will be a top 5 center in the league and Lakers know that. The only possible players that will be moved are Luke Walton, Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm and Kwame Brown (I'm referring to the players that are of interest). Bynum isn't leaving anywhere. If they want O'Neal they will have to trade their first round pick, Odom and Walton I think. It's not that O'Neal is even worth that much but it's just that Pacers won't give away their franchise player (has been for over five years) for a talent to talent trade, they need more for their fans to appreciate the move.

June 9, 2007  11:40 AM ET

The real problem with the LAKERS is the point guard position. LAKERS should start to go after Bibby. This would really free up Kobe to be Kobe. Bibby has the ability to pile up the assist and still get his points.

Giving up Odom, Bynum and the first round pick would set the LAKERS back a couple of years; years which close the window on Kobe getting another title.

June 9, 2007  11:50 AM ET

I agree get a friggin Point gaurd. Why mess with ODOM.He's fine as a # 3 option.Just get a point gaurd that can do some shooting. It's stupid to get rid of both BYNUM and ODOM for O'neal. If you could get rid of BYNUM by himself fine but I know you can't do that.Trade sacha,or radmonavic,or someone else.I don't know what BYNUM will turn into but at this point I don't care ,trade him and get help now.I don't want to wait for years to see if he might be O.K.GET A POINT GUARD NOW!!

June 9, 2007  11:53 AM ET

And once again for you people that don't watch basketball,STOP putting BIBBY and ARTEST together.THEY HATE EACH OTHER!! IT WON"T WORK.The LAKERS do not need that nightmare. One or the other.I'm a little sketchy about ARTEST.

June 9, 2007  11:54 AM ET

I think rather than going for O'Neal, Lakers should go for Kidd... he would make an instant impact and push them for a cup title. They have the young talent at the back with Farmar and Vujacic but for them to develop it will take them still another three years, gaining some solid post season experience behind Kidd will make them develop exponentially! Key is how to get Kidd. Nets wouldn't want Odom unless Carter leaves. If Carter leaves, it would have to be Odom and Radmonovic (nice move for the Lakers, cause they can get rid of his enormous contract and in the same time give more dimension to the Nets). This is a fair trade talent wise again but Kidd is coming out the biggest post season of his career, we will have to see what happens.

June 9, 2007  12:00 PM ET

There ya go, shop around, Mckie, Brown, Radmonovic, Mihm and maybe Walton, and pick up some draft picks. Look to move up for the best PG in the draft future Chris Paul.... Mike Conley from Ohio State. Extremely unselfish true point guard that would be happy to give it up to KB and would usually be the fastest person on the court. He plays D and led the big ten in steals as a freshman. Bibby would work though.

June 9, 2007  12:27 PM ET

I don't agree with the trade but i do know we have 2 do something quick 4 mi boi KB24. i say theres no way we get rid of odom **** on the guy played hurt + his child died and he gave the lakers everything he had did u see him in game 5 starting 2 get healthy but i didn't like bynum the first day they called his name at the draft he plays the game very confussed now for these trade rumors i would give bynum and pick 19 for oneal if pacers say include odom we walk and offer this same trade 2 the nets but mabey throuhgh in parker or sash for kidd a pg that average a triple double but whatever mr. buss do i just hope its a smart move and not the another STUPID decision like they made trading SHAQ!!!!! Keep doing yo thang KB24!!

June 9, 2007  12:52 PM ET

killALLkbhaters: Good work I totally agree.ODOM gave his heart to this team.Trade him only it It's worth it.BYNUM yes but ODOM NOOOOOOOOO.

June 9, 2007  01:11 PM ET

I never understood the hype about Bynum. Did I miss something? This kid might give you 12 and 10 in his best year. Trade him while the value is high, trade and play for right now. If they can package Odom and Bynum and whatever else it take for KG, I see no reason why not to. Bryant and KG would be a killer tandem, one of the best ever.

June 9, 2007  01:16 PM ET

Odom is a Good Man....A Nice Man,... I really like him !

However it is his Mild nature that is his achilles heel
in the Lakers line up.

He defers too much to Kobe and that puts a blanket
over his talents which are many,..

I think he would be a fantastic first option on another team..
away from the glaring light and unbending will of Bryant.

In trade, we get someone who has an ego to match Kobe
which is what we need.

O'Neal, come on up !

June 9, 2007  01:30 PM ET

The only player in the NBA who would be a real upgrade for all the playmaking/rebounds and points that Lamar provides would be KG. The other rebounding forwards can't handle the rock in Lamar's league. We need a point forward type, which Lamar is.

Despite all the hue and cry, I can't see KG getting traded for multiple players/picks ("puu puu platter" - ask Bill Simmons) or for anyone other than a fellow All-NBAer, which Lamar isn't yet.

As such, let's get a PG, some shooters, and a banger to take the rebounding load off of Lamar. Man, do we have too many tall guys who don't get rebounds!

I like a lot of our young players, but Phil is not a nurterer of young talent. Kobe is even less so. If we get the right mix of vets with minds for Phil to mess with, then, w/ a run of good health , this team could contend.

Trade Odom and Bynum for Jermaine O'neal that trade would make the lakers worst than last year..Dont give up your second best player he is not the part of the problem..I think Odom is a better all around player than o'neal right now..I dont think the lakers should not go after Garnett because his contract is so high and he is going to be 32 this year and played in the NBA for 12 years already with alot of minutes on his body..They should go after Dwight Howard because he is alot younger and he is improving every year while Garnett is starting to loose a step..The lakers dont have the money to sign those guys or the players to trade for them..They should just sign Rashard Lewis when he becomes a free agent and draft Acie Law from Texas a&m in the 19th pick..
