The Dodgers continue to look for a shortstop. They've shown interest in the White Sox's Orlando Cabrera, but it isn't known whether the Sox would consider moving him, and Sox people seemed to indicate they had nothing doing with the Dodgers. L.A. also looked into Marco Scutaro.

farnsworth was crying when he left the yankees to go back to the tigers...so im sure he'd be crying to go back to the red sox...

Why would the Sox move Cabrera right now?

I bet they could get Renteria from Detroit....

July 31, 2008  10:06 AM ET

I gotta step away for a few, can someone let me know if Cabrerra lasts 8 seconds on Punto?

July 31, 2008  10:14 AM ET

He only made it 7, Truth.........

Damn nigah, you get caught on film and your whole world can change. That's why I don't take pics with female interns anymore, beotches are whacked!

Sox would move Cabrera b/c the Sox love Alexi who is a natural SS playing 2nd base. If the Dodgers offer the right prospects Kenny will make this move. By the way Caberea is a free agent after the season

July 31, 2008  12:41 PM ET

Getting Cabrera would add payroll and the Dodgers are too cheap to do that. The want a good team, but don't want to pay for it.

Have you Dodgers fans heard any rumors about L.A. trying to swing a deal for Brandon Phillips? This rumor has been swirling around Cincinnati today. It sounds idiotic & improbable from the Reds' standpoint, unless they were to get Russell Martin in return.

July 31, 2008  01:35 PM ET

I haven't heard that rumor about phillips, but I doubt the Dodgers would give up Martin.

July 31, 2008  01:42 PM ET

Hey Dodgers: Take Juan Uribe, please!

July 31, 2008  01:44 PM ET

give up martin no way. however Griffy deserves to go to a contender.

July 31, 2008  02:36 PM ET

Thanks for the explanation, SouthSide. I didn't figure the Sox would want to move him in a pennant race, but I know Ramirez is their likely guy for the future.....

July 31, 2008  03:29 PM ET

sox are now talking to the LAD about manny, maybe lugo gets thrown in the deal...

not sure who boston gets to fill the gaping void left by manny
