Celtics can't give Telfair away?

Despite the charges and posturing, Sebastian Telfair is still a member of the Celtics. And Danny Ainge believes it's possible Telfair will remain one. What's best for the Celtics may be to move Telfair to another club, as much for the fact Rajon Rondo and Delonte West appear ready to take the minutes ahead of him as for any transgressions. But, from discussions with personnel people at last week's predraft camp in Orlando, the chance of the Celts getting something of even minimal value in return has been diminished by the pronouncement from the top that Telfair's nameplate had been removed from his locker at the team's practice facility.

telfair sucks...dont trade him...make him suffer SEND HIM TO THE D LEAGUE

He was a major disappointment. On the court he wasn't the man, off the court, he found the man. Trade him for a towel boy.

hahaha! what else is positive about Celtics? any?

June 9, 2007  11:18 AM ET

Sebastian won't be a Celtic next season. He can be released, because he is still in his rookie deal and doesn't make that much anyway.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that Bassy is coming home. I think Isiah will fall all over himself and offer this guy a contract.

Hey Telfair-

Take what's left of your $$ and go to Duke or something. Pay your own tuition and re-make a name for yourself as a point guard, and in 2, 3, or four years later, come back into the NBA. It's the hard way, but it may be the only way for you to regain any attentions. It's possible you can go to Europe and get a few years under your belt too. Good luck dude, but you need to realize you are about to waste a golden opportunity if you don't get your act together FAST!

Trade AINGE instead of Telfair, for crying out loud!

June 9, 2007  01:19 PM ET

He really probably could have been a very good PG if he went to college first. Now he is useless.

June 9, 2007  01:23 PM ET

I think Telfair should of went to Louisville for a few years it would of helped him prepair for the NBA alot better..Rick Patino is a good coach and he would of shown Telfair how to be a leader on the floor..

The NBA is run by and managed by idiots. The only bigger fools are those who pay full price to sit in the stands.

June 9, 2007  02:19 PM ET

Not all teams are run by idiots. What have the Spurs done wrong? But yeah, that is my only example.

Celtics it's still your turn to stand in the back of the line.

Another impressive showing by the Celtics front office. They try to get some good PR by saying they won't tolerate this kind of thing (despite the fact that they will, if happens to a good player) and tearing down Telfair's nameplate, thus making him useless in a trade and increasing the likelihood that they'll have to keep him and, subsequently, have to tolerate this kind of thing. Boy am I optimistic about this offseason.

June 9, 2007  05:38 PM ET

That sucks for the Celtics even when they are trying to give him away for free no one wants him.

June 9, 2007  05:49 PM ET

Don't give up on Bassy
As a blazer fan, Telfair showed he could really play at times but at other times, he made mistakes as a young player can. I grew up cheering for the Celtics and still have a warm spot for the team. Give Telfair another chance, he will grow up and be a all star, which will justify the trade with Portland

June 9, 2007  06:44 PM ET

who cares about telfair..he should play in the CBA

June 9, 2007  07:15 PM ET

Well, when everybody gives up on him, he can start a minor league something-or-other team with Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson, and Michael Vick. Seriously, buy a nice flatscreen and an Xbox 360, stay at home and out of trouble.

June 9, 2007  08:55 PM ET

Sebastian is still young and can still realize his potential. He made a huge mistake listening to the NYC media, and his own family by going pro. Pitino would have made him a better player, but he didn't want to wait. The Celts just need to cut their losses with him, and let him go for free.

June 9, 2007  11:09 PM ET

leave this kid alone. he has a bright future in the russian d league

June 10, 2007  12:49 AM ET

potential?! isiah rider had a lot of potential too...

The reason why telfair ain't going anywhere is because he is Ainge's boyfriend. Man. They could have had Brandon Roy. Please Ainge, trade for a brain.
