If the Yankees fail to obtain a starting pitcher today, there is no need to panic or resign yourself to The Summer of Sidney Ponson. The type of players the Yankees want would be high-priced veterans than they get for a B-level prospect or two. Those type of pitchers are likely to clear waivers and be available in August: Jarrod Wasburn, Vicente Padilla, Paul Byrd, Bronson Arroyo. They all wouldn't clear, but one or two of them would.

Very slim hopefully the Yankee's dont take any more them.. we are going to be fine, doing fine with what we got now...

Tell it like it is

Red Sox just traded away their best shot at holding off the Yanks. Yankees most likely now win the division. Open your eyes Yankee haters. Manny leaving the A.L. is better for the Yankees then Pudge is.

The Yankees don't suck but they have only improved "slightly". Losing Manny only helps a young clubhouse's attitude going forward !!! In this case RED SOX NATION PREVAILS AGAIN !!!

I love the fact that all the Yankees fans are dancing with their boyfriends and drinking their cheap beer celebrating the Manny trade. I cannot express enough my happiness that the Sox got rid of him. The Yankees are still not the best team in the division, and probably not the second best team in the division, in my opinion. Give it til the end of the year, and then talk smack. Right now, your Yank Offs are in third place. That's probably where you'll finish, unless Toronto gets hot.

A few problems with the whole "Yankees are gonna win now" thing.

1. Devil Rays are still on top of the division, and for some reason I see them winning the division, so the best the Yankees can do is Wild Card.
2. Jason Bay is a great batter, so the Red Sox won't be losing all that much in terms of offense. Perhaps in fielding, but not offense.
3. Even if the Yankees get in the playoffs, they'll most likely have to play the Angels, who would beat them.

perhaps in fielding? really, Bay could be worse than Manny defensively? That's hard to fathom

"Joba is fat", says Lucic for Dogcatcher. Hey Lucic, go bat against "fat boy" and he will OWN YOUR HEAD like he does Youk's. Have a nice day and run when it flushes, you could be next.
