Favre even more in charge?
The Green Bay Packers put off shopping quarterback Brett Favre to NFC North Division teams for at least another day but it isn't expected to be long before they do. Sources told the Journal Sentinel that the Packers didn't call the Minnesota Vikings or Chicago Bears on Thursday, and therefore presumably didn't call the Detroit Lions, either. But in a situation controlled for the most part by Favre, several executives in personnel for teams across the National Football League predicted that he would wind up in the Packers' own division with an opportunity to beat his old team twice a year. "I believe he'd consider any team so he could stick it to the Packers," a personnel man for an NFC team said. "That's his style." The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been talking to the Packers for some time, are coached by Jon Gruden and play Green Bay Sept. 28 in Tampa. Either way, Favre is in solid shape. He has NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, a longtime fan of Favre's, applying heavy pressure on the Packers to get him situated. Plus, he has the wherewithal to veto any trade overture by refusing to speak to any interested team or, in case of a deal, refuse to report.

Goodell needs to stay out of this unless he wants to weaken the teams power in the NFL even more which can hardly be his goal as commissioner.
Frankly I still doubt the Packers will trade Favre to any NFC North team, but then again I think they have totally lost it anyway so who knows what they will be doing....

So "His Style" is to stick it to the team that moved forward after they took him at his word that he was retiring. Nice guy. If he is true to his word that he just wants to continue playing, he should be happy going to any other team that he can be a starter, and not try and pick and choose.
Sorry Brett - you said you were retiring. If you changed you mind, you don't have the right to be picky about how you unretire.

Goodell's stance makes no sense here. Let me get this straight, he sides with the owners on literally every issue on the new CBA, but if a team wants fair value for a disgruntled player, screw them? Where was he when Chad Johnson wanted out? Shockey? Plax? Horn? Because Favre is no better. The Packers want fair value is Brett is going to play, and are doing him a favor by trading him. Bengals never traded Kitna when Palmer stepped up. Nor did the Cardinals trade away Warner. Goodell, you are a hypocrite. Why don't you go pretend to crack down some more while only suspending players that get media attention.

Grammar, not grammer. That is what the little red squiggly line is trying to tell you.
The difference between the other players that you mentioned and Favre with GB is that the other teams all have an owner. GB is owned by the fans and has a committee. The other teams have the voice of one man to follow, where GB does not. That is why Goodell stepped in to provide that voice. He has not been on one side or the other, but has put pressure on both sides to get this done so that the distraction will go away and we can watch watered-down pre-season football.

Bret Favre is an egotistical, self serving, "me first" guy. Its amazing that he doesn't get called on it. The Packers have treated him like royalty over the years (even all the bad, interception filled ones) and he's pulling in a base salary of over 10 million a year. He had one good year after how many terrible ones? Makes dumb plays and throws interceptions and its always the "teams" fault. Now he's making a spectacle of the team that treated him like a king just because he was indecisive and didn't want to participate in training camp. If he just wants to play, he should let the Packers trade him and not try and control his destination.

His best chance for a Superbowl is the Vikings. No more cold weather games for a guy who looked a little too old for the frigid temps of the frozen tundra. He couldnt beat the Vikings in the Metrodome for years, however, he has been beating them in the dome the last few years. He is ready to take over the dome. Although we hated him for years we are not stupid enough to think that he couldn't help us get to next level.
He wants to play for the Vikes. That in itself hurts the cheeseheads.
