Quenneville exits Isles search

Cross one prominent name off the list of candidates for the Islanders' head-coaching vacancy. Former Colorado coach Joel Quenneville apparently committed to take a year off from coaching before the Isles' job opened up, and he's sticking with that plan, according to an NHL source. One candidate who is eager for the opportunity, AHL coach of the year Scott Gordon, met yesterday with GM Garth Snow. The interview was said to have gone "extremely well." Gordon, who spent the past five seasons coaching Boston's AHL affiliate in Providence, was the fifth candidate to meet face-to-face with Snow. The other leading candidates who previously met with Snow were former Toronto coach Paul Maurice, former Atlanta coach Bob Hartley, former Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella and his former Lightning assistant Mike Sullivan.

Smart man! Run, Joel, run!

This is certainly no surprise.. That Quenneville, the best of the also-rans should exit the 'race' for I coach, following Snow's self-centered, selfish, self-indulgent firing of their excellent coach Nolan, is again, about what one should expect. It says something for Quenneville that he's not going to participate in that mess as it is right now.
As said by me and apparently by many others, I think that only DESPERATION would motivate ANYONE to take the so called 'helm' of the Islanders at this point.

My recommendation to Snow and Wang Chung is either make amends with the excellent coach you got rid of because he dared express himself or, SNOW, how about YOU taking on two jobs. Snow as the new coach. How about it? Sure you can't be in conflict with yourself.
I really hate the situation you put that team into by what you did. And at a point when much positive could have happened, And now... And what about the new young players, what do you think they must think about this mess.

They found Jimmy Hoffa so he knew he had no chance.

So they are down to exactly whom now?
The little kid with the glasses from The Brady Bunch? (Oliver?)

I think that's a different Oliver.
If you keep making literary references, they'll ban you from the NFL threads
You can do them in NASCAR, where they have no idea, but some of the NFL folks have heard some stories about "books and stuff" and might be offended if they think..oh wait think? If there is a chance
they're being made fun of.

By gruel I meant what the new coach ( whoever he may be ) is about to be served up. Eggs a LaFontaine? Hardly. But you knew that :)

I'm not worried about the NFL threads. I use a different Avatar for them and as they only like to look at pictures over there I feel I'm safe.
