Inside Oilers' front-office moves

Yesterday's Oilers announcement, in many ways, sounds like a bigger deal than it really is. Kevin Lowe is still the hockey boss. Period. He's still going to do all the big GM stuff. Now Steve Tambellini is second in command doing some of the other GM stuff with Kevin Prendergast under him remaining responsible for all scouting operations. But there are aspects of this which suggest Lowe could be earmarked by new owner Daryl Katz to become, perhaps, the head of Rexall Sports and everybody's boss down the road. But right now, for the moment, think of this in Detroit Red Wing terms. Lowe is Ken Holland and Tambellini is Jim Nill.

Way to go Lowe.

Somewhere in Anaheim, Burke's perma tan has just turned a brighter shade of orange.

Kevin was offered this job only because they knew they could "Low Ball" him on the salary and he'd take it.

Any way you slice it, this is good for the Oilers! Kevin Lowe took the Oilers through their most difficult times in franchise history and somehow managed to keep the team in town and competitive on a shoe string budget! Now he can relax a bit and work on regrowing some of the hair he lost during that time!

Paging Mr. Lowe...
Paging Mr. Lowe...
We have a call for you on Line 2. It's 'Rogaine'. And he says he hasn't been in touch with you in like, forever.

Translation to Kevin Lowe. Just shut up and stay in your office placing calls instead of starting stupid feuds via the media. Let US play hockey.

Translation: When someone has as many Stanley Cup rings on his fingers as Kevin Lowe does, he can say anything he wants! In my book, he's earned that right! Especially when he's dealing with an idiot like Cryin' Burke!

the winner of the feud should be the guy with the better hair

I hate both teams an I hate Lowe&Burke, but Burke is/was the better GM. They both overreacted completely
