Boras denies Manny flip-flop
Amid the inevitable he-said, she-said that results during the breakup between the Red Sox and a star player, agent Scott Boras denied a published report early yesterday that Manny Ramirez lobbied to return to the club up to an hour after Thursday's trading deadline. According to a published report, Boras called Red Sox officials about an hour after the 4 p.m. deadline and said Ramirez was having second thoughts about being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The story suggested Ramirez promised to give the team an honest effort over the final two months of the season if the Sox backed out of the trade. "Completely inaccurate," Boras said by phone from his home on the West Coast yesterday.

So, which part is inaccurate? The part where Manny asked to stay with the Sox, or the part about Manny dogging it during his final month or so with the team? The part about Manny ever giving an honest effort?
Boras is a liar.

I believe Boras. We all know how honest and trustworthy he is.Boras wouldn't lie because it would be in his clients best interest.Boras isn't worried about making money, his ethics come first.
In case you didn't realize it,I'm saying this with complete sarcasm.

If it was originally published in the Boston Herald, I might have hesitation, but the Boston Globe is slightly more credible when it comes to this kind of thing. I'm not sure if Gordon Edes would make up something like this, even if he is on his way out.

Manny is a 10-5 player and can veto any trade. The Red Sox can't trade him without his permission.

crimexs2, He signed off on being traded "anywhere" before the deal was finalized. I would assume that means that, after the deal was completed, only one of the two teams could kill it.

why would anyone believe anything Boras says? the guy's a snake. Yankees should have passed on I-Rod simply because his agent is Boras. You'd think they'd have learned after the ARod fiasco.

(spring training) i really love the sox, i hate the sox, i love the sox, i hate the sox (traded) no wait! i love the sox (in LA) i love the dodgers, i love 24, i love 28, i love 38, i love 99 (next day) no wait! i love 28, i really love the dodgers...
I say he is bipolar no other reason for him to be so strange. i feel for the dodgers. it highly likely that the next thing he says is: i hate the dodgers.

Of course he denies it. It could be, or should be, the basis for legal action of the Red Sox for breach of Manny's player contract and tortious inference with a contractual relationship.

Arod took matters into his own hands and went back to the yanks after Boras tried to burn all the bridges. Manny wasn't (isn't) smart enough to go over Boras' head or realize that Boras is ruining his reputation for a few extra bucks. Seriously if not for Boras Manny could have been a (undeserved imo) hero in the eyes of Boston (ala Ted Williams or Carl Yastrzemski). But now he will be remembered for this selfish action and not his great ability to play baseball. (undeserved because he never did ANY charity work and the sox ALWAYS hid that fact).
