Who replaces Rice at Rutgers?

For now, a running back-by-committee approach appears to be the plan at Rutgers. But if Kordell Young quickly re-establishes himself following knee surgery, he will probably get the bulk of the carries. The trio of Young, Mason Robinson and Jourdan Brooks gives Rutgers depth and versatility -- something that was lacking last year. Here's the thing: If those three can combine for, say, 1,700 yards, what's the difference if it comes from several players or just one? All Rutgers needs is the threat of a productive running game to set up its explosive passing game.

Because it takes up a roster spot on the team, remember? But then again were talking about that powerhouse...Rutgers.

what's with all the hate on rutgers? up and coming program i hope they do well. probably another SEC fan getting upset that the Big East the last couple of years are actually producing decent teams.

Ray Ray will be tough to replace. However, the offense will need to rely on the passing game, which is very strong. If Kevin Brock can continue his progress, they won't need the running backs to carry 35 times a game like Ray used to.

Cordel Young, Jourdan Brooks, and Jabu Lovelace will make the running game even betterthan last year

Humm when you have to rely on a backup quarterback to make your running game better, it is a sad day indeed. That is unless of course if your back up is a 5 star Freshman that is highly touted with the name Tim Tebow.

I could be wrong, but I don't see anybody replacing the load left byhind by Rice. I see Rutgers finishing 7 in the Big East just ahead of Syracuse in the Big East with West Virginia still proudly carrying the flag for the BE! I don't think Mike Teel can avg 4 TD's and 350-400 yards passing even with Underwood and Britt at WR. Expect a huge nose dive for Rutgers in 08, but expect them back soon. I could be surprised though.

The reason Rice got so many yards is because teams just let him go and covered the rest of the field. It worked because RU didn't beat any good teams as long as he was there. They need to become a more balanced team which they now could do without having to depend on Rice to try and carry the whole team.

With the threat of the pass with Teel, Underwood, and Britt, you don't need someone like Ray Rice to carry the load. A Rutgers RB won't have to find holes when the defense stacks the box this year. If they do bring 8, you'll see an RU receiver sceaming down the middle of the field for six.

7th in the BE??? Looks like RU is back to sneaking up on people, which is fine by me. Top 3 in the BE.
