Will Drury listen to Grier?

Chris Drury's chief concern immediately after the season wasn't whether he would get his money. He wondered how Buffalo would be better if his getting a hefty salary meant Daniel Briere was forced to leave. The Sabres have already made it clear they're going to be cautious with payroll. The warning signs were evident last summer when Mike Grier suggested he didn't like what he saw in Buffalo's future and signed with San Jose for the same money the Sabres offered. Grier and Drury text message one another over trivial matters.

They text one another over trivial matters? Well that's good to know. How do you think Drury feels about the Paris Hilton situation?

Hahaha...

The Sabres have always been penny-pinchers. Too bad, because if they were able to resign either Drury or Briere, and add some grit up front (Gary Robberts?), they would be poised again to make a long playoff run. Roberts would love to play in Toronto, but if the Leafs aren't a possibility, locating to Buffalo, a mere 1.5 hours from Toronto, where his daughter curretly lives, could be a nice second option.

Mike Grier also said that his wife really wanted to live on the west coast with her family.

How about putting a picture of Drury up. Or is Roy involved in this text messaging scandal too?

I know as hockey fans we are relegated to the back of the pack because no one cares, but you'd think SI would at least be able to find a picture of Chris Drury for the story about Chris Drury! Although, I'm sure if you ask Derek Roy he would be thrilled with the mistake, especially if it happened on payday. Come on, the Sabres even put the numbers on the front of the jersey, and still a mistake was made.

SI - last week it was a photo of Brendan Witt instead of Ryan Smyth & now Derek Roy instead of Drury. Pathetic.

The Sabres are gonna end up losing both Briere and Drury because they cant aford both of them and one is not gonna stay without the other

June 11, 2007  03:17 PM ET

to tom174, since they're not gonna stay without each other, are they going to go to San Jose, Boston, Philly together? No. Those teams dont have enough cap space for both. Theres no way that Briere and Drury are going to be with each other next season. (unless they take a paycut with the Sabres)

Do you hear that song getting louder in the background.....Do You Know The Way To San Jose. Things are lining up for it so if the offer is good it's a done deal. SJ should dump Marleau to open the door for Drury. There cleaning out a locker for him as we speak. Perfect fit.
