Will Seau return to Patriots?

Two years ago, Junior Seau didn't join the Patriots until Aug. 18. Last year, he signed in May. This year? The lines of communication at least remain open. Patriots coach Bill Belichick yesterday said he and Seau have spoken. Whether that means the future Hall of Famer plans to return for a 19th season remains to be seen, but it's safe to say Seau wouldn't need much camp to get ready for the season. The Patriots are at the roster limit of 80 players and would need to cut someone to make room for Seau, who underwent offseason shoulder surgery. "We are at 80 and if we make any roster moves we'll let you know as soon as we can," Belichick said. "We are where we are right now. If anything changes, we'll let you know." Neither Seau nor his agent, Marvin Demoff, could be reached for comment.

I trust Belichick to do what's best for the team and if that means Seau's out, he's out. At least there's no drama here.

He'll be back. Are you kidding? After that season, he was so close to a ring, yet so far. The Pats will back this year and won't lose again.

Did you actually read the article? He is not under contract and they don't have a roster spot for him even if he wanted to come back. You couldn't have read the article . . . . .

how old is Seau now?

Kind of Favre-esque, isn't it? Seau: "I don't know if I want to play this year or not"

August 5, 2008  09:59 AM ET

Maybe he should go to the Packers. AARP could be the official sponsor of the team

That's a long time to play in the NFL period, let alone at a position as physical as LB. Heck of a player.
