Report: Pack trading Favre to Bucs

The Brett Favre saga is about to end with the NFL icon in pewter. The Tribune has learned Favre will not stand in the way of a trade from Green Bay to Tampa Bay and the deal is likely to be finalized within 24 hours. The chances of the trade unraveling are remote and Favre has indicated to the Bucs directly that he is willing to change teams after 16 years of growing his legend in Green Bay. Even with the chance to win his starting job back potentially on the table, McCarthy said Favre couldn't seem to get past emotional wounds that were opened as tensions mounted in recent weeks. A trade could be coming next, with Tampa Bay re-emerging as a potential destination after seemingly being eliminated from consideration in recent weeks. Packers officials have believed throughout the past month that Favre's preference is to play for the Minnesota Vikings, but Favre could reconsider a trade to Tampa Bay -- or elsewhere -- if Green Bay holds firm in its commitment not to trade him to a division rival. The Green Bay Press-Gazette reported on its Web site Tuesday night that Favre was willing to play for the Buccaneers.

This is so stupid. Apparently these stoopid men have pissed Favre off and they have been doing everything to put the blame of Favre. Just go aheag and go with Rodgers and see what you guys and the fans of the Packers get in then end. Good luck.

Brett is a stand-up guy, he has proven himself time and time again. Nothing but repsect for Brett, but......... COME ON???He's confused like a high school girl on a first date.. hahahaha. Buckle up baby---It's GO TIME, 1 question:

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?????? WOOT WOOT

(Tired of the Farvweveveve saga) :-)

This would be the best solution. At least he's out of the division. Green Bay may have to face him down the road, by so what? It would be a great matchup for the NFL. He wouldn't be the first legend to finish his career with another team.

It's difficult to imagine but what if Rodgers in a couple of years proves to be a better fit for GB and that they're able to win the Superbowl a couple of times. I think there wont be so much blogging about this recent past and everybody will say they always knew this was the way to go.
It's possible ; look at Eli, if he's able to win another ring in the next 5 years he'll get a skyscraper named after him.

August 6, 2008  06:27 AM ET

Another Farve tread.....Shoot us now.

August 6, 2008  06:37 AM ET

I kind of feel sorry for Rodgers...he is going to be crucified the minute he plays any less than stellar....But now, at least, there won't be clamoring for the coach to bring Favre back in.

August 6, 2008  06:45 AM ET

Oh yes. The plan is almost complete. Once Favre is signed, we can trade the other eleven QB's to the Dodgers for Manny, and we will then rule the world!!!

August 6, 2008  06:56 AM ET

The Jets lose again.

August 6, 2008  06:56 AM ET

Thank god, I can't take much more.

August 6, 2008  06:56 AM ET

Imagine, Tampa will have six QB's and not a lick of offense!

August 6, 2008  06:57 AM ET

Atro,

you can have Manny. Although he is ulimate anti-Yankee: selfish, disrespectful, etc.

August 6, 2008  06:59 AM ET

Someone on T&R said it before: Gruden has never met a QB he didn't like.

The firestorm with Garcia will get interesting. Garcia will probably ask for a release. If so, he'll end up in Miami.

This has to go down as one of the most self-serving debacles in sports history! I feel like an idiot for even commenting on this cold pizza BS!

August 6, 2008  07:03 AM ET

If this happens, TAMPA BAY'S top two QB's will be around 80 yrs old , wow TAMPA BAY fans have a great future. I am really lost now. If BRETT has been so unhappy at GREENBAY,why did he stay there. jerry

August 6, 2008  07:10 AM ET

Boring...just end this saga now! Go somewhere, anywhere! Enough is enough.

August 6, 2008  07:21 AM ET

Tampa may be the first team to have QB's playing special teams if they keep them all. Now, I agree, let's get this done because I am tired of hearing about it!

August 6, 2008  07:29 AM ET

It's days like this that make it hard to be a Bucs fan.

August 6, 2008  07:30 AM ET

I m SOOO ASHAMED in how the Packer franchise has handled this situation. It seems that Mike McCathy had his mind made up before Brett returned. I say GET RID OF MCCARTHY and KEEP BRETT!!! I have been a Packer fan since I was a babe, because they stood for values, loyalty, and seemed to have something special in te way they worked, well I think the Laumbardi era is over. I really hate to see Brett treated his way! I thnk the common bump in the road the whole way was MCCATHY and he thinks he made the winning season last year, not his team. I hik he was so jealous how the team looked up to Brett and he didn't have the total worship he desires. SEND MCCARTHY HOME!!!!
