07:52 AM ET 08.06 | The Pat Noonan transfer saga is apparently over. The former Revolution striker is expected to re-sign with the league and head to Columbus via trade, sources close to the deal tell Goal.com. The Crew are expected to ship a first-round draft pick, allocation money and the rights to swap allocation places to New England in exchange for Noonan. If the league approves the deal, New England would leap from 10th to 3rd in the allocation rankings.

Does Columbus really need him?> NO
I think its more of NE wanting to move up in the allocation ranks

CLB could use Noonan... look at it this way... they'll have an established MLS forward to pair up with Moreno.... Noonan knows the league and how to succeed.... he'll set up more goals for Moreno n' Co. then most other players in the squad... he's the reason Tightshirt has succeed...

of course the crew needs him. Robbie Rogers has been **** after the first few weeks the league started. he is a player with experience. on the other hand, mls should stop recycling rejects from europe.

mykewan- in all honesty, Noonan was an established MLS'er.... i dont see this as "recycling" as a quality pickup for a team that tends to lack the finishing touch.... Team Mediocrewty is obviously doing pretty well right now, but they tend to fall short when it matters.... Noonan adds a hidden punch.... he's clearly the reason Tightshirt had all his success....

jaqua, wolf, noonan etc the list goes on and on. these are playing who couldnot make the grade in Europe yet they come back and are still stars. that shows you that the league is not growing in terms of talent. if these players are welcomed back after short unsuccessful stints in Europe, what does that tell the other players in the league?

mykewan- jaqua played and excelled in austria.... getting limited minutes and scoring at least 5 goals.... Wolff played in germany for at least 3 yrs before finding himself without a team (as he is aging).... Noonan, well i dont know his story very well abroad....

what you arent realizing is these players are leaving the league as stars and they are coming back in similar if not improved form.... IF these players are coming back and are still above the current talent then let them resign... why would you choose to sit with less then stellar players .... (IE) TFC signs Noonan who is obviously a better option then Barrett, would you not start Noonan?? obviously as this story tells you he's going to CLB, this is just an example

all n' all, these are MLS established players coming back and playing for the MLS... would you throw a fit if they opted to stay in the MLS rather then going aborad then coming back?? i dont see the problem... you're simply looking too much into it
