The Dolphins quarterback battle will not gain true clarity until the preseason games, but several veteran defensive players have expressed surprise with how much Chad Henne has injected himself into the race, outshining John Beck and challenging front-runner Josh McCown, who threw three interceptions Tuesday.

miami should just hold a fan's appreciation day where everyone in town gets a chance to earn the QB job.

Why don't they have open try outs for Qb like the eagles did under Vermil? They are really low at a Quality stand point at the position. With no line bet all three will see playing time this year as long can't block everyone.

Keep in mind that KC doesn't have a QB controversy and they have Brodie 'Effin' Croyle as the starter. If Miami can't narrow it down from 3 then they have got a big problem.

Preseason games will determine the starting QB. Garcia would be a good move if he becomes available (if that 38 year old QB is traded to Tampa).

August 6, 2008  09:34 AM ET

Josh Beck..and Josh McCown....wow stiff competition there.

August 6, 2008  09:37 AM ET

Don't forget the new owner is HUGE mich supporter. Henne will be the curse of the Dolphins for years. At least he is better than Tebo.

August 6, 2008  10:15 AM ET

John Beck and Josh McCown equals Chad Henne as your starting QB. Henne has a chance to become a great NFL quarterback. McCown is utter garbage and Beck should try his luck elsewhere.

I hope you're right Dan the Man!!!! I would love Jeff Garcia in our offense!!!! Especially using Garcia's experience to train Henne...that's the problem, we've got two young QB's and one who isn't good enough to be considered a vet.

We do not have qualified experience at the QB level.

hilarious

August 6, 2008  11:12 AM ET

This really isn't a surprise...He was a very good QB at Michigan. 4 year starter for a school that has produced some pretty good QB's under Carr's tenure.

August 6, 2008  11:54 AM ET

Henne. End of dicsussion. Beck got the job because fired QB Lemon couldn't do it. McCown is playing because Beck couldn't do it.... do the math, only one more to go, and he WANTS the job.

p.s. Run first (Williams & Brown) = better shot at Henne growing properly, since he won't "have to" win games. They are doing it right.

Time to call Marino in for a little bit of training

Run Ricky Run!!!

A Chad in Floridia in a election year. Go figure. Truth be told Henne has a good head on his shoulders but, like any other rookie, and with this team, might get it knocked off. Anybody see the top ten hitters on NFL channel last night. Tatum, Butkis, Night train Lane (what a great nickname) get a chance watch some great plays

August 6, 2008  12:14 PM ET

No way they take Garcia, who only leaves TB to start elsewhere. Miami already has McCown as their 'veteran presence' guy since Henne/Beck are unproven. Parcells n' co. are committed to rebuilding, which means a young QB. It will be Henne - if he can put some points on the scoreboard Miami will whether some rookie mistakes in the process. Beck showed good poise as a rookie, not rattled and didn't turn it over much, but too many games w/ no TDs.

August 6, 2008  12:49 PM ET

If they are considering Henne....they really are in desperate straits

August 6, 2008  12:50 PM ET

WHAT HAPPENED TO QUINCY CARTER? PARCELLS DON'T FORGET ABOUT DREW HENSON!!!

August 6, 2008  01:00 PM ET

You guys are funny. These guys all have a shot. They played great college ball and that is probably more than any of you did. Beck and Henne are too young to call yet, you just want to talk the talk.
