Giants, Burress no closer to deal

The sight of both Drew and Jason Rosenhaus at Giants camp Tuesday night certainly seemed promising for the negotiations between the team and Plaxico Burress. But it apparently wasn't too promising (as in a deal being moments away). "Still working," Drew Rosenhaus wrote in an e-mail minutes ago. "Nothing imminent."

I can tell you one thing that is imminent, the premier of Hard Knocks...Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys. It starts and 10/9 central on HBO. LMAO

August 6, 2008  07:05 AM ET

This is not remotely surprising considering what happened in the Burgh. He's a very selfish player.

August 6, 2008  07:23 AM ET

It is not surprising because of how underpaid he is. 3.5 million a year when other legit #1 WRs are making 5-9 a year.

August 6, 2008  07:49 AM ET

when drew rosenhaus crawls into town, its never a good sign.

August 6, 2008  08:01 AM ET

"still working, nothing imminent"... lol T&R really have a good way of making alot out of nothing, how about tomorrow lead.... giants and burress close to a deal...... reports saying both drew and jason rosenhaus leaving the giants facility with smiles on there faces.. cmon.. this lead is prolly bogus cuz teh follow up story is about 1 paragraph

August 6, 2008  08:18 AM ET

August 6, 2008  08:20 AM ET

Because no other team can say that, duh!!!!

August 6, 2008  08:41 AM ET

They are very close to a deal, you know the 6 year $25 million one you signed in 2005. Go eat a sandwich

August 6, 2008  09:17 AM ET

so glad the Steelers did not overpay for his services after the 2004 season. When in Pittsburgh the guy could do an amazing disappearing act in the big games that would make David Copperfield jealous.

Doesn't take much to make him laugh I guess.

August 6, 2008  09:42 AM ET

Cowboys make me laugh too...such a circus of misfits on that team.

August 6, 2008  09:50 AM ET

You put the right misfits together on the right team at the right time and POW, you've got yourself a powerhouse.

August 6, 2008  10:16 AM ET

Pay him his money already.

August 6, 2008  10:49 AM ET

Right give him the money he deserves it, played on one leg for the whole season and produced a 1,000 yard season

August 6, 2008  10:59 AM ET

What a maroon Glenn is. He could have had guaranteed money by signing that waiver but nooooo, not him. Here's to another washed up player quietly retiring.

August 6, 2008  11:03 AM ET

As you can see, the above comment was posted on the wrong thread. Makes me a maroon, too.

August 6, 2008  11:34 AM ET

they would re-use the pic of Plax w/ the under arm hair goatee...

August 6, 2008  12:28 PM ET

So far in training camp all he has done is ride the bicycle and catch balls from the jugs machine. You would think he would want to prove to the team that his ankle is ok to ask for big money.
He is worth more than he is making, but not what his agent is asking. 5/6 million sounds about right.
No question about his ability, it is his ankle that has to make you wonder. He will play, the question is his heart. Two years ago he jagged it bad, last year he was a warrior. Which guy will show up this year?
