Sources: LSU to start Hatch at QB

Although the Tigers have not selected a starter officially, the word from several people inside the program is that Andrew Hatch, a Harvard transfer, will take the field first when LSU opens its season against Appalachian State on Aug. 30 at Tiger Stadium. However, his hold on the job is tenuous enough that should Jarrett Lee have an outstanding preseason camp, he could overtake Hatch and be chosen the starter.

The TRUTH's souce states that Les Miles has seen his best days at LSU, and things will ONLY deteriorate from there.....

August 6, 2008  09:10 AM ET

Les is like a mad genius. He made some cray-zee calls last year, but it worked out for him..

And I don't care who they're starting at QB he's not gonna be half as hot as that Matt Flynn kid. I tell you what that boy can call my plays anytime.

August 6, 2008  09:35 AM ET

Putting a Harvard guy at the helm may be a good move; if the guy is a smart player, bu tmaybe not very athletic, he can manage games for a more than adequate offense and what should be a top tier defense at LSU

August 6, 2008  09:40 AM ET

LSU will be fine. Just because he went to Harvard does not mean he cannot throw the ball or hand if off to the stable of running backs LSU always has. Additionally, he is a little bit more mature (Mormon mission) which I would think translates into reliability and hard working. He is athletic if he is on LSUs roster trust me...maybe not as much as Perrilloux but I'm sure he is good enough if he is beating out the other 2 guys.

August 6, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Tiger fans...you'll in for another great season at LSU; don't count them out of the national spotlight just yet. Yes, it's going to be a fun season for the Tigers...I wonder if they'll chew on some Ohio meatloaf?

August 6, 2008  09:57 AM ET

Les Miles...BEST DAYS? Have you lost your freakin mind? He'll probably compete for the title again very soon. It may not be this year, but look out for Les Miles BIG TIME COMEBACK! He's a great coach and a football players coach...look out Tiger Bait!

THE TRUTH is Al Pacino

That shows how dumb the Truth and his/her/shem's sources are

August 6, 2008  10:02 AM ET

Tiger bait...you go right on trash talking Les Miles and LSU football. Seems like there was a lot of trash talking last year too...including within SEC ranks. Geogia, get ready for a thrashing at the hands of LSU. You just thought you'll see better days.

August 6, 2008  10:02 AM ET

Lee will get ample playing time.

Keep in mind though, LSU's 2003 and 2007 national championship teams had QB's that are eerily similar to what Hatch brings to the table.

August 6, 2008  10:05 AM ET

And, Florida bait...get ready for another roller coaster ride. Keep dreaming Florida bait...you'll make a tasty fish snack.

There is not a doubt in my mind that if LSU played USC it would be one of the best games ever, and one of the most trash talked filled games in the stands ever. But I love the mutual respect that LSU and USC have for eachother now.

You are right, Hatch just needs to not LOSE the game. But he is a great athlete, a gifted runner with the ball, and makes VERY good decisions in the passing game.

August 6, 2008  10:06 AM ET

I'm dumb because you are an LSU fan? How does that make sense? Look at Miles' track record pardna....Exhibit A at OK St. Get back to me when he wins a National Championship with his OWN recruits and not Saban's. My opinion is based on facts not ignorant kitty love like yours.

August 6, 2008  10:11 AM ET

Yes, the Glennman loves college football LSUDYNASTY. Tiger town is going to rock again. Most people don't realize LSU's success is largely due to the Alumni, fan support, administration support, and Les Miles support. Consistency is NOT AN ACCIDENT! College football is a TEAM GAME and right now Tiger Town is rocking.

August 6, 2008  10:15 AM ET

THE TRUTH is Al Pacino: Oh, you are really good pal. There are so many variables involved in winning the BIG ONE that you can't just look at one guy and put the whole ball of wax on him...including Les Miles. I counter with look at Les Miles last three years at LSU. Pal, rage on. Yes, I'm a football fan period, and, I've also noted how the other national contenders have played some pretty dumb ball at the end of the season.

August 6, 2008  10:17 AM ET

It seems like the Tigers play best with an okay but consistent QB. Although I think that Flynn was better than Mauk, Russell had more talent than both of them.

August 6, 2008  10:19 AM ET

THE TRUTH is Al Pacino...I'm just a college football fan period and LSU has been extremely entertaining. If I thought Kansas was the best team I'd harp on them. Though, I did pick Kansas and LSU to be last years respective champions in both Football and Basketball. How is that for diversity?

August 6, 2008  10:19 AM ET

TRUTH, honey, Les had a kicka-s-s reord at Okie State, considering the program. That's how he landed the job at LSU in the first place. As the current OSU coach would say, "get yer facts straight!"

August 6, 2008  10:25 AM ET

Yes, I lift my glass to both LSU Football and Kansas Basketball for making me look so darn good in the prediction game. Man, Kansas rocks too Fan Nation. Maybe Ohio will lay off the fried potatoes and compete for a National Title this year. Believe me, even though I joke a bit, I consider Ohio State a contender along with Georgia and Southern Cal. The big twelve...not yet.

August 6, 2008  10:32 AM ET

Yes, college football is upon us. I've been waiting...in my books it is the most entertaining sporting event with no peer. Talk about do or die attitudes on game day and the fact any team can get hot and make or break a teams season...hey, look at the University of Louisiana-Monroe win over Alabama last year. That's got to rank as one of the great win's by a college team over, non other, a Sabin nightmare. Louisiana can play some big time ball ugh?

August 6, 2008  10:37 AM ET

Kitty love? Pal, you are a hoot. How was you're predictions last year pal? Did you predict any major wins? Talk to me Pal. You want to talk kitty love...I picked two winners last year in LSU and Kansas. How did you do Al the Truth? Got milk on you chin big guy?
