Harmon tightens Ernie's swing
As the PGA Championship begins today at Oakland Hills, the window is closing on Ernie Els. He will turn 39 in October. He left his longtime swing coach, David Leadbetter, in March to hook up with Butch Harmon, who counseled Woods during his initial rise to No. 1 in the world rankings. The switch to Harmon, curiously, came after Els won the Honda Classic in early March, his first PGA Tour victory since 2004. That move - and Els' recent return to longtime caddie Ricci Roberts - suggested he knew he needed to capitalize on his momentum if he wanted to win another major and gain ground on Woods. Harmon has since "tightened" Els' swing, the same description Phil Mickelson often uses in portraying his work with Harmon. Notice the trend here: Many of Woods' chief challengers, from Els and Mickelson to Adam Scott and Stewart Cink, now lean on Harmon.

I can't help thinking that Ernie's issues are more mental than swing related. He has already shown plenty of talent.

He needs to tighten his butt he always had one of the great swings out there. He has never been the same since Woods kicked his **** a couple of times a few years ago.
