Byrnes returning to D-Backs

Eric Byrnes doesn't intend to throw on a cape, swoop back into his starting spot in left field and be a savior for the Diamondbacks as they try to nail down the National League West Division title. But that doesn't mean he isn't contemplating a comeback this season, even as most reports have him likely missing the rest of the year because of a torn left hamstring. If his rehab work continues to make strides and the results of an MRI exam this month look positive, Byrnes said Wednesday that he expects to be activated from the 60-day disabled list and be available for the club's stretch run.

Okay 2 news articles... Wow- truth, changing the moniker for a bit?

August 7, 2008  08:05 AM ET

Well, after looking into it I am guessing this is now someone mocking him instead...

August 7, 2008  08:41 AM ET

Byrnes needs to sit it out or he may make it worse.

August 7, 2008  08:59 AM ET

Byrnes needs what he was using up until now: THE JUICE!

August 7, 2008  09:35 AM ET

He's fun to watch, and I like him, in a general sort of way, but he's not that good. He had a fluke season last year is all.

Yea, Byrnes is what I would call a "grinder". He's really not that talented just plays ballz out every day. Gotta love that.

August 7, 2008  09:56 AM ET

Well, Mr. Newton, how goes it? I agree 100% with your insightful and intelligent description of Mr. Byrnes.

I've enjoyed watching him since he was running full-blast into the walls of the Coluseum.

Plus, he looks like Mr. Heatmiser. You gotta love that, too.

I keep forgetting that he played for the A's.....things are going well..yourself?

August 7, 2008  10:07 AM ET

It's just another day in paradise, you know.

How many games have you made it too this summer? Opening Day has been ALL for us.

August 7, 2008  10:51 AM ET

The better question is what games has he made it to that they won? I tell you the ratio for Detroit fans REALLY sucks this year...

So we'll either have Byrnes on the field or Byrnes in the broadcast booth for the playoffs.....It's WIN-WIN for America!!!!!!!!!!

August 7, 2008  12:10 PM ET

Is this the same Eric Byrnes who previously played for Oakland and more recently was hitting about .230 for the D-Backs ??? If so stay injured kid at least for the rest of this year !!!

August 7, 2008  01:27 PM ET

seems to me that he should sit out or he will make it worse, but if it was me i would be doing the same thing trying to get back out there as soon as you can.

August 7, 2008  03:17 PM ET
