Both Brian Giles and the Red Sox were unsure and unhappy about the circumstances surrounding the news of the waiver claim being made public. There are significant fines for discussing waiver claims.

ljmel... He has a limited no-trade, and the Sox were one of the teams lined out in it. I think he has played 5 years for SD, but I would have to check.

Someone within the Red Sox has loose lips. In 2007 or 2006 the Braves put Andruw Jones on waviers or they talked to Boston about a trade and someone leaked it; had to because no one thought he would be traded.

This year the whole Tex for Youk deal also. The deal wasn't turned down, it wasn't even made. It was a- if we decide to trade Tex to you we won't Youk.
