Ref won't work Big Ten games

The Big Ten official whose history of bankruptcy, casino gambling and child abuse was detailed in a Yahoo! Sports article late last year will not work any more football games for the conference. The official, Chicago resident Stephen Pamon, also came under fire last season when his crews made controversial calls in the Illinois- Ohio State and Purdue-Penn State games. The Yahoo! story did not allege that Pamon was a sports gambler, and Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany said that an investigation determined that "these games were not compromised." Delany called the incident both painful and educational. As a result of the incident, the league will conduct yearly background checks on its officials and clarified its gambling policy: Only casino gambling is permitted, and it can occur only outside the official's season.

Sounds like the guy should go to D-3 to work games. I don't see many point spread lines for those games so there would be less of a chance of him trying to fix a game.

Sounds like the man needs serious help, and the league neds to open it eyes. How did this go on for a full year?

Wow, we all know that point shaving is a common occurence in college hoops, but know we have a dirty ref in college football and game fixing in the NBA. I wonder if the NFL crews are going to be investigated. Remember the Seattle - Pittsburgh Super Bowl a few years ago? I'de love to see an investigation into that officiating crew.

He is still eligible to ref NBA games.

You have obviously never seen a Penn State game. JoePud starts screaming at the officials while running out the tunnel onto the field. Pamon is probably thanking the Big 10 for the snub.

The only surprise here is that the Big Ten is doing something about it. The league allowed Michigan alum and BOOSTER Dick Honig to hold the position of supervisor for officials for football for years while officiating all UM home games and a lot of their road games. They also allowed fellow Michigan alum M. Lemonier to replace him and officiate Michigan home games since his retirement. What a joke. Big Ten officiating is a national joke and is known for its incompetence and pro-Michigan bias far and wide.

They might say those games weren't compromised but I say that's a truck load of BS. It was so bad that Prudue coach filed a letter of complaint. The fumble in the Ohio state vs Illinois game was so obviously recovered by Ohio State but was called wrong. Only an idiot could come to the conclusion that the games weren't compromised. I completely agree with INCSOC. The Michigan team has certainly enjoyed a lot of home cooking over the years. Just look at this years Mich vs Mich State game and the plyon call for a touchdown by Replay official Augustine.
