Former Patriots linebacker Junior Seau said the possibility remains he could return to New England, but nothing is imminent. In an interview with XX Sports Radio in San Diego, Seau, who had offseason surgery to repair his rotator cuff, said he remains in contact with coach Bill Belichick. "Obviously, I have to be healthy enough to get in there and perform at a high level and right now I'm not ready," Seau said. Seau also ruled out the possibility of returning with any other team.

You had a good run Junior but as a Patriots fan I hope you choose to retire. You'll be 40 in 5 months and football is a young man's game.

Lady's Coach Belicat |

He is the soul of the Pats D at 40 Belicat... Every player and coach on that team knows it. Watch a game he plays in, and even at 40 you will see a man play LB in the NFL the right way, he covers recievers, in Zones he doesn't just spot drop, and he is still a great run stopper.

jandssports,
I'm just not sure how much gas he has left in his tank. Belichick said if he had a spot on the roster for him, he'd give him a call. I just don't see a spot opening for him soon.

I guess we will see Seau retire "again" this year?

Seau...you will have to compete for your job...it's an open competition now. The Packers just said so. just freakin retire.

August 11, 2008  11:32 AM ET

The Pats dont need you.

August 11, 2008  12:13 PM ET

Next stop if you play is out patient traction therapy, or the MRI for brain scans. Retire old man.

August 11, 2008  12:24 PM ET

You can't play in this league at 40 (unless you're Darrell Green) & Pats are not going to the big one this year. I guess 18-1 is the closest you'll ever come. retire and spend you're days surfing bro.

Junior - "and now the ends is HERE you faced your final curtain - you gave all you had of this I know I'm certain" !!!
Sincerely, Old "Blue Eyes"

Don't kid yourselves, even at 40 and especially in the right system, Junior Seau is still better than many of the LB's currently out there. The guy is a freak of nature.

Having said that, the Pat's will have some tough calls trimming the roster on the LB's they have in camp right now. The rookies (even the undrafted FA Guyton) and also Pierre Woods are looking good in camp so far.

It's too bad we won't get a Look at Tank Williams in a hybrid LB role this year -that would have fun to watch.

August 11, 2008  02:44 PM ET

Patriots: "It's either this old LB or that old LB."
