Kansas running back to transfer

Ever since he got to Kansas, sophomore running back Carmon Boyd-Anderson has been wondering whether it is truly the right place for him. A couple of days ago, he decided once and for all that it isn't. Boyd-Anderson, who played sparingly as a true freshman last season and was being considered by the KU coaches for a redshirt this season, will transfer from KU. His mother, Edna Boyd, is encouraging him to transfer to Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, where his brother, Welton Boyd, plays football. His father, Claudell Anderson, is hoping Carmon will return to a school closer to his hometown of Jacksonville, Texas.

August 11, 2008  09:18 AM ET

Holy cow!! Bolivar, Missouri...I've been there. I can't say I recommend it.

Well good luck kid wherever you go.

Help me here, Magino? Is he possibly BIGGER than last year?

August 11, 2008  10:41 AM ET

If I were him I wouldn't drop down to Div II or NAIA.

I think it's the black sweater. You know black does make you look smaller.

His mother, Edna Boyd, is encouraging him to transfer to Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar...

Ah yes, SWBU, the pipeline to the NFL. I'm guessing Mom doesn't watch much college football, or she just hates her son.

A BCS team to D2 in less than a week, wow talk about culture shock...

Man, his heart can't be saying "lub-dub. lub-dub," but "help me, help me."

I'm not sure about that, but a friend of a friend tells the TRUTH that Mangino's heart is piloted by a very small but gifted hamster

Fairly typical nowadays. Kids who don't get playing time RIGHT AWAY transfer or call radio stations and complain or don't show up for practice. Those of us with more experience and age know that success takes more time than one or two years. It's a real shame because KU seems to really develop their talent fairly well.

EyesWideOpen is correct - playing for a podunk town isn't best for his athletic future. But perhaps the college is better for him all-around...

sounds like the parents are playing keep-away with the poor kid. Jeez isn't that what every kid needs when trying to make a career decision?

August 11, 2008  12:20 PM ET

I hope they have angioplasty and a deflibber on the side lines. What kind of chow hall do they have at KU? Hopefully he survives the season...damn!

August 11, 2008  12:44 PM ET

I think Mangino turned "Lord of the Flies" and ate him, but they're calling it a "transfer" until he can get into a 12 step program...
BTW...I didn't know KU had a football team...you learn something new everyday...

Jayzus!, so the man is fat. Half of America is fat. Even I'm fat. That's mean spirited, PREACH! It's pretty funny with the 'Lord of the Flies' bit, but damn, lay off of us fat people. We may rise up and eat your arse one day. Then you'll be sorry. Or marinated. Yeah, marinated... and some farva beans.
