Astros general manager Ed Wade said Sunday the club isn't interested in signing slugger Barry Bonds as a replacement for left fielder Carlos Lee, who is likely out for the season with a broken left little finger. "I don't see us pursuing that," Wade said Sunday. Lee will have surgery today to repair his broken finger, suffered when he was hit by a Bronson Arroyo pitch in the third inning of Saturday's game against the Reds. Lee leads the National League with 100 RBIs. During a ceremony in San Francisco on Saturday, Bonds, 44, made it clear he wasn't retired.

Barry's not retired, he's just between jobs. That's a big difference!

When McDonald's canned me, I did not slink off and retire, I believed in myself and stuck with my career.

Now that I'm head night shift Fry Guy at the local Wendy's it's my turn to laugh at all the boo birds that said I was through.

Keep fighting Barry.....

Does that finally cover every MLB team? Good, because it's time for Barry to get on with his life, greeting players in vegas, celebrity boxing, et cetera.

With the amount of players who were or about to be sent to the DL this weekend, if Bonds isn't contacted by somebody this week, he can probably forget about it for 2008. Add in the court dates set for next spring, he may be unsignable in 2009 too.I do not like the guy due to the "character stuff" I have read about, but still, he should be in the game right now if the other guys implicated in the drug cheat list are still playing.

Astros already got Randy Wolf and LaTroy Hawkins for no reason. Why not Bonds?

nobody wants inflated head on their team. wonder how many hat sizes he's lost since the needle was taken out of his buttocks.

August 11, 2008  10:29 AM ET

Anyone catch this tool's little speech during the anniv. ceremonies over the weekend? He calls out the Dodgers like it' some heated rivalry. I'm not saying it isn't to the fans, but gee, would Barry play for them if they called this morning? Magic 8 balls yes....

**** yes !!!

August 11, 2008  10:46 AM ET

B*nds.

August 11, 2008  10:58 AM ET

he is he bad date that won't go away. NO one wants him, he may not think he is retired, but everyone else does.

August 11, 2008  11:55 AM ET

Wow, no teams are interested in Barry. If he looses his mistress then we will know things are going downhill!

August 11, 2008  11:55 AM ET

Why can't a guy change his mind a dozen times about retiring?

Love,

Brett Favre

"Ward - you're being to hard on the Beaver and Bonds too" !!!

August 11, 2008  12:59 PM ET

When will Bonds realize that nobody is interested in him and just go away......
Yes, he is a hitter, but he also lived by being a poor teammate, a drama queen, and anti-fan. Now that the cards are down, he wants support. Sorry bud, you made your bed, now sleep in it.

August 11, 2008  01:07 PM ET

"Invest in 'U.S. Bonds', and do your country a favor!" Astros should invest their time and energy on rebuilding, not tearing down the franchise.

THE TRUTH is Sammy Davis | 08/11/08, 10:29 AM

As a matter of fact, I actually have a magic 8-ball here on my desk that I use to help me make personel decisions. When asked if in fact Barry Lamar Bonds would play for the Dodgers should they call, the reply is "You may rely on it."

He did make the claim once upon a time that he couldn't understand why Bagwell wasn't leading the league in home runs because it was so easy to hit them at the juice box.

Hey, juice box, Bonds.... the rumor-starters might be onto something there.

I heard there are a few federal agencies are interested in Bonds.

Wait - not for their softball teams they actually want to talk to him.
