D-Backs interested in A's Ellis?

There already is talk the Diamondbacks will pursue A's second baseman Mark Ellis when he becomes a free agent this winter, and if Ellis has cleared waivers, there is little doubt that Arizona would put in a call to the A's sooner. If he has not been run through waivers yet, the Diamondbacks would have to hope that Ellis falls to them when he does go on the wire, but other National League contenders could block that possibility. One major-league executive pointed out that the A's already snared many of Arizona's best prospects in the Dan Haren deal, so there might not be much Oakland wants. Were Ellis to leave as a free agent, the A's are likely to receive a compensation-round draft pick for him, which might be better than what they could get from Arizona.

They just got Dunn to counter the Dodgers getting Ramirez. He's just what the D-backs needed. A big bopper in the lineup.

The D Backs could use a hitter like Ellis to help them in the pennant race. They are still better than the Dodgers.

right now the d-backs are as hot as they were in april. the dodgers have no chance with only one player carrying their backs i.e. manny. webby is poised to get his 2nd cy young right now, only an injury can dash that. good for the d-backs looking at mark ellis right now. orlando hudson will probably sign with another team this off-season looking for big money. augie and burke can't fill in that spot next year so hopefully the dbacks get ellis to plug in in 2nd base.
