Mind games not slowing Busch

Perhaps it's time Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson stopped playing word games with their ex-Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Busch. It seems that every time they try to get under his skin with comments that praise his skill but highlight his immaturity they end up eating their words. In the past two races Busch hadn't finished better than 15th. The duo struck again in Friday's interview sessions. Result? Busch wins his eighth race of the season.

Oh, this is going to be GREAT , I think I'll go and see a man about a dog today!

This doesn't surprise me, but I wasn't really paying attention to those two during their interviews. Does anybody know what they said?

By the way, it seems everybody at the track praises his talent, but sees a lack of maturity....not sure whi JG and JJ were singled out.

August 12, 2008  08:23 AM ET

Love him or hate him this man boy can sure drive.

August 12, 2008  08:27 AM ET

I did laugh earlier in the year when Jeff said Kyle was frustrated about being let go by Hendrick. Busch may be a lot of things, but not that.

August 12, 2008  08:32 AM ET

I think he was angry of being let go to make room for JR.
That anger put a fire in the boy!

+30 HP makes anyone bonehead look good -- but that's NASCARs puppy to spank for now...

August 12, 2008  08:42 AM ET

I forgot to say

"Good Morning"

Sorry.

August 12, 2008  08:50 AM ET

EarnTazz88: Sounds like someone is upset that we don't have a "Jr is great" article yet this week.... After he and his crew chief boned the "puppy" last weekend, is anyone surprised?

I don't care for NASCAR favoring a make. Didn't like it when they allowed Chevy to cheat for decades, and don't like to see it for Toyota. But, that does not change the fact that Kyle is the most talented driver in the sport (dammit), and Slick Rick screwed up dropping him for Jr.

August 12, 2008  08:57 AM ET

Shrub has more wins than all the Hendricks drivers combined.... I wonder how ole Rick feels watching that 18 head to the winners circle as often as it does with his former driver in it

August 12, 2008  08:57 AM ET

Earntaz, come on! Enough of the conspiracy talk. The kid is a mental case, willing to stand on the gas at all times regardless of how well the car is handling. If his car had an extra 30 hp, he would have won every race.

August 12, 2008  09:04 AM ET

JJ & JG BOTH have been takin to school by this
little &&#*%#& and they don't like it one damn
bit,,,As I'v said many times I can't stand Dumbo
Ears = But it is his time to shine..sorry Jimmy =
sorry Jeff

They're entitled to their opinions of Kyle..... just so happens most of the racing world agrees with them. Reluctantly, I agree he's got talent and is having an amazing year. But, out of the car, his behavior is ANNOYING!

That got my day off to a good start. Good one, my boy.
I read yesterday's posts and actually did not post one single time. It was a real waste of time and space. I can't understand the hatred for KB or Dale Jr.
When you move about in Texas, see if the rumor that Kyle Busch and Kinky Friedman are running for Pres. and VP are true.

KB had every right to be angry. He was winning races and forced out so a guy who was NOT winning races could take his place at HMS. KB is going to send everyone a christmas card with his championship picture from victory lane in Homestead this year.

That would be awesome

When did racing fans become more concerned with a guys looks and personality than they are with his talent? I think shrubby has been a pretty good boy this year. He races to win, doesn't say bad things about other drivers and isn't that immature considering he's only 23.
Come on youse guys, think back to what youse was like at 23.
I wonder what Stewart was like at 23. He didn't get a full time cup ride till he was 25-26 and he was a monumental pain in the ****. Still is 1/2 the time.
Now he is a fan favorite, go figure.

August 12, 2008  10:34 AM ET

When you have 8 cup wins and 14 top 10's you are entitled to walk with a little swagger. They hated Dale Sr, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Darrell Waltrip and Rusty Wallace. This too shall pass.

August 12, 2008  10:52 AM ET

Those 2 are just jealous that he broke out and got better. It proves that they are frustrated at the performance of Hendrick and no matter what they do or try they are outclassed by the #18.
