Green no lock to make Rams

Trent Green is the backup quarterback for the Rams, for now. But it sounds like Brock Berlin is making a case to move up the ladder. Green played one series with the first team offensive line last weekend and completed one of three passes for 16 yeards. Berlin came in and completed 11 of 13 passes for 139 yeards. "I thought Brock was real solid," Rams coach Scott Linehan told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "He did some good things, he got a nice drive to get us a touchdown and a nice two-minute drive to get us another three. "He put 10 points on the board when he was in there, and that's the job of a quarterback."

As many head shots that Trent Green has taken i won't be surprised if he doesn't make it. While I am surprised at the fact that he can actually remember a play, I just imagine he's always on the field dazed and drooling on himself.

He would not be allowed to box in 48 states. But it is ok to keep playing in the NFL? Something is wrong with this picture.

I sure hope he's got money set aside for the live-in home health care worker he's going to need when he's finally done with football.

I agree he should walk away while he can do just that.....walk away!!

wow. nfl needs to protect guys like this from themselves.

The only ladder Brock Berlin should be climbing is the one at his new job as a roofer.

August 12, 2008  09:58 AM ET

Whatever......if Green's healthy enough....he'll be #2.

Everyone bashes Favre, and here you have a guy that actually should be retiring because he can't play anymore

I'd take a healthy and more experienced Green before Berlin. That being said I still doubt he is completely healthy. For his own sake it might be best if he retires because of his history with concussions.

My problem with Favre is this:
He said when he retired that it was never about the money and the records. Yet why push for a trade rather than go back to the Packers. Yes both parties were at fault but if it was really about team you can't tell me that he didn't sell out his team by pushing for the trade.

I agree with you c note........on both points......

I remember Brock Berlin. He played for us last year some. Trust me, it wasn't easy to forget, the man was horrible. I seen no potential out of him at all. I wasn't even impressed when he was on Miami/Florida U either. If Trent can see straight, he'll be the #2, or else Linehan doesn't have his marbles in my opinion.

UCF24 - I agree wholeheartedly. That's why I blew this story off this morning......there is no way Berlin beats out Trent, unless Trent is having major health issues.

August 12, 2008  09:56 PM ET

Trent is going to get his eggs scrambled again and spend the rest of his life taking his meals intravenously. His best years are behind him and needs to be broadcasting.

Trent needs to call it a career and go home to his family. He is surely brain-damaged or he would have the sense to have done so already. One completion out of 16 passes?? A five year old could do that.
