Sundin delays decision again

It looks like Mats Sundin may wait until late August before deciding whether to return to the NHL - never mind with which team. Sundin seemed no closer to deciding on his future during an interview with a Sportsnet reporter, who caught up to the former Leafs captain on a golf course in Sweden on Monday. "I haven't decided yet," Sundin told the network. "I think sometime in August I hope to come to a conclusion on what I'm going to do ... if I'm going to play or not this year." Sundin backtracked on comments he made to a Swedish newspaper in July, when he suggested he'd choose his path in early August. "I never had a deadline," he said.

Why are we talking about an OLD vet who has never done anything in the playoffs? He was a VERYgood player no doubt but whydoes a team need him at the $ he is demanding and at his age? He will be the highest paid player if he takes the Vancouver deal. He isn't the best player!

Nobody gives a **** by this point. Give us an update when he finally signs or retires. Maybe someone will care then.

August 13, 2008  08:20 AM ET

Did he get an invitation to the PGA?

August 13, 2008  08:41 AM ET

Sundin is not worth the money. He has some talent left and can still be a good leader. It might be time to evaluate your asking price, or retire if you not happy with the $. It's sad that as his career winds down this might be what he is remembered for and not a champion w/ the Leafs.

August 13, 2008  08:53 AM ET

He is playing for big money and trying to do all he can to milk what he can... pathetic.

August 13, 2008  08:59 AM ET

All we need now is a "McCabe still considering waiving NTC" thread, and possibly a Preds story, and we're all set.

If anyone is olde enough to remember the original Saturday Night Live (you know, when it was FUNNY?) this reminds me of The News story:
"Generalissmo Francisco Franco still vailiantly hanging on in his fight to remain dead"

Timing, Location, and Money, this Sudin thing is getting old.

August 13, 2008  09:57 AM ET

Sundin: "I'm an ****." It wasn't much of a prepared statement, but it was very accurate.

August 13, 2008  09:59 AM ET

A. Hole. That's what it said. I wanted to make that clear.

Im getting the feeling hes milking this for all its worth. There is a point and its coming fast when no-one is going to care anymore. Hear that? thats the sound of people turning the channel....

August 13, 2008  10:17 AM ET

Sundin: "I'm an A. Hole." It wasn't much of a prepared statement, but it was very accurate.

As it should have appeared, though Sundin has since retracte dthat, saying he was more of a big bald Swedish GIT

Gina Gershon. I forgot her. A dark haired wench I heartily approve of. Well preserved.

Procrastination is a symptom of a Passive Aggressive Personality Disorder. Sundin has changed his mind and put off making his decision more times than Julie Roberts did in the movie "Runaway Bride." I know August is a slow news month when it comes to hockey but come on, surely there something more worth while printing other than daily reporting and re-reporting of Sundin's Passive Aggressive Personality Disorder symptoms. How about Brendan Shanahan who is still available and a bargain at $2,500,000 coming to the Leafs and getting named captain. It would be nice to have some true veteran leadership and work ethic in the dressing room for a change, especially with all the younger guys who will make up the team this year. I hate to think how Sundin would screw up those young guys heads if he came back, The next time Sundin showed leadership qualities would be the first time...

"Ah the Brett Favre of hockey - Mats Sundin" !!!

As Andrew Dice Clay would say....you're **** or you're face...what's the difference.....make up your mind.,
