Why Bobcats traded Weaver

I didn't anticipate the Bobcats trading second-round pick Kyle Weaver, but I'm also not surprised. Larry Brown didn't use Weaver a whole lot more than a bunch of guys who were rounded up off the street to assemble a summer-league team. So I guess it's not a revelation that, given the opportunity to replace a second-round pick, they moved him on to Oklahoma City. Weaver made sense on draft night: He potentially played three positions and was a defender first on a team lacking for defenders. On some unmolded-clay level, he was what coach Larry Brown made of George Lynch. However, he looked lost in summer-league games (although no more lost than first-round pick Alexis Ajinca). There isn't a whole lot that Weaver can do that Jared Dudley doesn't already do. And finding playing time for a wing player is the last of many problems the Bobcats have.

you mean Larry brown does not like to play young guys?!? whaen did this happen

Weaver is not teally that good and Dudley is a favorite of the coach and other men in the fornt office. That's all. It's about liking someone and nothing really about the other issues that are going on here with him.

Dudley was a great guy to watch when he was at B.C. and a bench/locker room leader. I am glad he is being given a chance to show what he can do.

Another pic of the coach with his mouth open. Front office or not, if the player produces, then why trade him? That's it in the end....production numbers.

It's the old Larry Brown. He will never change. He will never play a rookie no matter how good he is especially this one. He is the reason why they lost in the 2004 Olympics. He brought in 3 rookies in Lebron, DWade, & Carmelo to play for him in the Olympics but his egos got in the way.

Larry Brown is annoying and so are the Bobcats.

August 13, 2008  09:00 AM ET

Larry Brown doesn't like playing the kids. We already know this.

August 13, 2008  09:44 AM ET

I guess I won't be buying any Bobcats tickets this season..I'm trying to figure out what the heck they are doing....

August 13, 2008  09:44 AM ET

I love the pic of Brown with his mouth hangin open. He looks scary which, if you know Brown's style, is about right.

The Bobcats are in trouble.

Petey024...I disagree. I think he is yawning. Notice the glassy eyes.

Yeah - try living in the same city. This franchise is going no where quickly. You might sell more tickets if you cough up some cash and put a winning team on the floor........duh!

When I think of Bobcats, I think of remote controlled cars. Why is this team even in the NBA? I guess you need gimme-gimme teams too.

You guys had his Airness as player, GM and owner and yet you couldn't make the playoffs.

So fold the tents, burn the crops and sell off the women and children. You're done!

August 13, 2008  11:24 AM ET

Its simple and plain.. Larry just doesn't do rookies.. the only rookie he had a modest success with is Channing Frye... he sometimes comes off the bench for the blazers...

August 13, 2008  11:35 AM ET

this isnt a surprise, he never plays young guys, darko ring a bell in detroit.

August 13, 2008  12:20 PM ET

man charlotte hornets..........charlotte bobcats........f!?k i wish they could have an above average season because i know they could do better that most of the teams in the east

August 13, 2008  12:23 PM ET

He's not stupid though, he played Allen Iverson as a young guy.

I seems that a rookie has to be franchise level to get on the court for Coach Brown.

It was a stupid pick, they should have taken Brook Lopez.
