Fatigued Favre wants fewer throws

Brett Favre walked off the Jets' practice field Wednesday and into the interview tent, where it took less than five seconds for the candid QB to rock the foundation at Weeb Ewbank Hall. "My arm is dragging a little bit," said Favre, responding to an innocuous "how-ya-feeling?" question. "It's not really sore, just fatigued....No pain, but I'm 38 years old, (so you) have to be fatigued a little bit." The $12 million gunslinger fired a few blanks in the morning practice, and it was enough of a concern that Favre said he planned to ask Eric Mangini to limit his throws in the late-afternoon session. Mangini seemed a bit taken aback when he learned of Favre's comments from a reporter in his daily news conference; players aren't allowed to discuss injuries or ailments. Of course, Favre is known to be brutally honest, which may not thrill his coach at times. If Favre's fatigue persists, it could put the Jets in a delicate situation. Because he arrived two weeks into camp, the legendary quarterback is in a race against the calendar, trying to learn the Jets' offense before the Sept. 7 opener in Miami. He needs as many practice reps as possible, but the Jets don't want to overwork him.

This will not be an easy transition for Favre. I think once the Jets go 1-3 he realize how nice the weather is down in Mississippi this time of year...

Tired already? What's your arm going to feel like in Dec, if you actually make it that far?

This happens during every training camp for Favre. I wish the frigging media would check their archives before they run these headlines. Of course they wouldn't have anything else to report then would they?

I've been suffering from Favre fatigue for 3 seasons. I long for the days of three TV channels.

August 14, 2008  09:07 AM ET

Now he wants preferential treatment - because he's too old to throw as much in camp as the younger QBs?

Way to quickly piss off your NEW team too Brett!

What an idiot.

First 4 comments says it all, Fatigued already?
Happy landing Jet fans, bring a pillow to cushion the blow.

August 14, 2008  09:24 AM ET

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

August 14, 2008  09:28 AM ET

He hasn't really, seriously, put everything he's got into it throwing a football to a pro since December of 2007. Sure his arm is going to be tired. Given more time I'm sure it'll get better.
< Is there ANYBODY out there who believes what I just said > =D

August 14, 2008  09:34 AM ET

Don't forget he's on the cover of Madden. He's not completing the season. Miami will end up with a better record with Chad than the Jets with Brett.

Its called getting older Brett..Did he run another lap yet? Im sure we would want to know, smh....

It's okay b/c he won't be in AS cold of weather in NY as he would be in GB.

STFU, STFU, STFU!!! Wah, wah, wah I want to play again. Let me screw up your salary cap and depth chart, Packers. Wah, wah, wah my arm is tired. Will it ever end? He was top-notch in my book but now I can't stand this prima-donna.
