According to a league source, free agent safety John Lynch has agreed to join the Patriots. The source did not have terms of the deal, but said Lynch had decided to sign with the Patriots. NFL.com reported the deal was for one-year and $1.5 million. The source said the New York Jets also expressed interested in Lynch, but that the 15-year veteran chose to play for the Patriots, who tried to sign him as a free agent in 2004, when he decided to go from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Denver Broncos.

Nice. I think hes got something left in the tank.

August 15, 2008  06:25 AM ET

He can definitely help but he has to realize he won't be a 4 down player. That was his complaint in Denver.

August 15, 2008  06:57 AM ET

and now I suppose mangini will say that the pats cheate

August 15, 2008  06:58 AM ET

cheated again!

August 15, 2008  07:50 AM ET

Lynch might just play 1st and 2nd down and thats just against the running teams like the fins/bills since they would not have a passing game

August 15, 2008  07:52 AM ET

Lynch has too much class to play for a snitch like mangina.

August 15, 2008  07:54 AM ET

Welcome to the Dark Side Lynch, glad to have you on board. (:-]

A need signing, but a good one. With Williams injured, there was a void. He fills it. He is not the Lynch of four years ago, but he will not hurt you much either.

August 15, 2008  08:17 AM ET

This is the second time Lynch has spurned the Jets.

See this is the exact crap that people like you seem to have trouble getting over ... Don't be mad just because the Jets snitched on cheaters,
Real Sports is Kellen Clemens | 08/15/08, 07:56 AM

mangina broke the code. He is a snitch. He knew the "illegal" taping location was a technicality, he was doing it himself. He ratted out the man who gave him the opportunity to be more than a coffee b!t(h.
The Pats are a perennial contender, the jets suck. The jets have sucked for almost 40 years. The jets will suck again this year.

He's a RAT! He's a rat, I tell ya! A back-stabbing, underhanded, two-faced, forked tongued little mangina weasel...

He knew what was going on because he did it for years with no problem... but the little Judas turned on the man who gave him every opportunity to succeed... which he never will of course... the scum bucket showed his true colors...

A yellow-bellied snitch

Thank you epoch. You're a reasonable and honorable fellow.

Until you disagree with me, HA!

That's all you need for one year in this league.

I'll do my best to avoid doing that in the future.

August 15, 2008  08:57 AM ET

especially when the Pats went 18-1, having a perfect record only to lose in the most important game is worse than 4-12.

Real Sports is Kellen Clemens | 08/15/08, 08:53 AM

It takes a warped sense of victory to feel that 4 and 12 is somehow superior to 18 and 1.

I don't care which game of the season they lost.... you don't get to play more games than that and no one has ever gone undefeated at 16-0 in the regular season... as a Pats fan I got more than my moneys worth... how much did your team win?

J-E-T-S SUK! SUK! SUK!

You may just suck at history too. The Jets have won a SB and had some very good playoff teams too. According to your summary almost all teams suck over 40 years?

August 15, 2008  09:03 AM ET

It kills me that recent Patriots success makes everyone forget about YEARS of futility.

August 15, 2008  09:04 AM ET

So mangini told everyone that Billy was nothing but a cheat, get over it... Your going to be mad at who, the one who cheated or the one who exposed it? I'd say both... Pretty petty and Jealous on Magini's part, but utterly disgraceful and classless on Bills side

August 15, 2008  09:05 AM ET

Just because your bitter because the Jets are snitches doesn't mean you have to go crazy ... Look, the Jets are going to be contenders this year face up to that fact and if you can't well then we will all know why,

Real Sports is Kellen Clemens | 08/15/08, 09:00 AM

Contenders. HA! You're putting too much faith in Favre delivering you a fluke season like he did to Green Bay last year. NYJ will be 9-7 at the very best. Jets have always been disappointing and Mangina is desparate to save his job.
