Cincinnati QB sues NCAA
University of Cincinnati football coach Brian Kelly will not allow former quarterback Ben Mauk to practice with the Bearcats despite a temporary restraining order issued in response to a lawsuit Mauk filed against the NCAA. The order, issued by Judge William D. Hart in Hardin County (Ohio) Common Pleas Court, says the NCAA cannot prevent Mauk "from practicing, participating and playing football for the University of Cincinnati." Kelly said Thursday that if UC allows Mauk to practice and the NCAA eventually prevails in court, UC could be forced to forfeit games and return bowl money. Mauk had claimed an injury prevented him from playing during his freshman year at Wake Forest. But the NCAA ruled neither he nor UC could produce contemporaneous documentation to support that contention, and Mauk was not entitled to a medical hardship waiver.

Dude, sit out the year like everyone else who transfers. You knew this was going to be the case before you transferred.

I hope bionic Ben Mauk wins that sixth year of eligibility. Even tho he plays for a west Virginia competitor he has such a good story that he deserves to be able to play again.

What more evidence does teh NCAA need other than a copy of the X-Rays and a medical record from his doctors? It's pretty clear that the guy was hurt. But this is the NCAA... the same people who will not do anything about the Reggie Bush situation even though they have plenty of evidence on that case too.

This is sad....and I agree w/ Mauk. The NCAA only favors coaches who cheat when it comes to "transferring." Maybe "The Boz" was right, NCAA = Nat'l Communists Against Athletes.

The NCAA is racist against people named Mauck. Or, at least, that's what Barry Bonds' agent would havesaid.
