Peterson blames self for decline
Adrian Peterson said he spent a lot of time in the offseason studying films of last season's Vikings games, and he came to the conclusion that he -- not his offensive line nor the opposing defenses -- was responsible for some of his poorer performances. The 2007 first-round draft choice rushed for 1,341 yards and scored 13 touchdowns in 14 games to earn NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. However, he slowed down after his first eight games, which included performances of 224 rushing yards at Chicago and an NFL record of 296 against San Diego.

I think it's called resting on your laurels. At least he recognizes that it was him and no one else. Now he can fix the problem.

got to respect a guy that puts out enough to win something like offensive rookie of the year, then blames himself for not doing more on the field. also suspect, his line will respect him for that and block harder.

nah I'd have to go with:
"Michael Vick is the best athelete to ever play "
as for AP's line looking out for him, selfish backs tend to end up without guys protecting them 100% of the time. RB's that know their place and respect their line tend to end up in probowls and/or the HoF.

It wasn't AP's fault that the Vikings WRs could not catch a cold and the QB wasn't ready to handle the offense. Anyone who watches football knows that leads to stacking the box with 7-8 guys to defend the run.....

I thought a big part of it was that Childress would stop going to him. In several games, Childress was more effective at stopping AP than the opposing defenses. That's why I am optimistic that the Queens will continue to suck, woohoo!

Whatever AP....you just don't wanna give anyone credit for possibly stacking 8 men to stop you....

LOL, I was going to say something similar, bleech. Generally if the other team puts 11 men in the box, it becomes harder to run :-D

Maybe if his butt wasn't under his nose, he could run a little better? Is AP a contorsionsist?

Great job of AD recognizing that he is the one who messed up. He screwed his Junior year for us at OU up too. I love AD, always have, ever since he stepped foot in Norman. I was disappointed with last season, he is much better. Hopefully he will be the very bust, without question.

and everyone who calls him AP, it aint AP, it's AD... As in ALL DAY, which his dad began to call him when he first began to play football... just call him AD, please? it annoys me when people say they are huge fans of him and call him AP when his little nick name thing is AD, and they have no clue what I am talking about.
