NFL mum on Viking's suspension

An NFL spokesman said the league had no comment Thursday on a speculative report that Vikings offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie is likely to be suspended for four games for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Sirius NFL Radio first reported the one-sentence item during its Wednesday afternoon update, but the NFL spokesman said the league had nothing to announce. McKinnie faces four charges, including one of felony aggravated battery, stemming from a February fight outside a Miami nightclub. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is scheduled for a Sept. 24 appearance in Miami-Dade County Court. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell met with McKinnie, the Vikings' starting left tackle, in late May.

The NFL is mum on his suspension and so am I. Mum's the word.

The Vikings always self-destruct. Isn't it great?

McKinnie has had character issues and, if he is found guilty or pleads out, he SHOULD get suspended. But I don't see how he could be suspended if he's found not guilty. It doesn't make any sense. It's not illegal to be at a nightclub. Should he use better judgement? Of course. But that doesn't mean that he shouldn't be able to go out if he can conduct himself in a decent manner. Another problem I have is Lynch from Buffalo not getting any action taken against him. He was found guilty of hit and run in an incident that a woman was taken to the hospital. No suspension. I understand that it is a difference in criminal conduct, but it's still not very good personal conduct.

How can you suspend McKinnie for 4 games, yet Brandon Marshall who was arrested on 3 seperate occasions in 1 month only gets 3 games? It makes no sense.

I'm still scratching my head over Chris Henry's 6 arrests not getting him permanently suspended. Let's just say, the current Commish hasn't shown an equal hand when dealing punishment among players.
