Spartans focus on Detroit recruits

Since coming to Michigan State, Head Coach Mark Dantonio has made the Detroit Metropolitan Area a main focus for Spartan recruiting. In addition to having native Detroiter Dan Enos serve as the primary recruiter, Coach Dantonio himself has made numerous trips to the Motor City. The focus has paid off handsomely for the Spartans as many of the area's top prospects have either committed to play for Michigan State next year or are already in East Lansing. The Class of 2010 should be no different.

Best thing Michigan State did was to hire Mark. He is one of the great defensive minded coaches in the country, and defense wins championships. I personally want to thank Mark for his hugh part in OSU winning the championship in 2002 without him we could not have done it. Thanks, good luck and best wishes.

People actually live in Detroit? I was there the other day and it looks like Beirut! Dirtiest, saddest city I have ever been to. At least they have a well respected mayor.

Who is doing the recruits in East Lansing?

August 17, 2008  12:19 AM ET

Well, KINGFOOTBALL, you can thank Kwame and the stranglehold the Democratic Party and the Unions have on Detroit for it's brilliance.

Detroit, New Orleans and D.C. are always running neck-in-neck for the "murder capital." Congrats.

BTW, Ohio State has gotten more than it's share of recruits from the Detroit area recently.

If UM doesn't want them, OSU and MSU will take them.

Buckeyedude you are right about that! It took Hurricane Katrina to destroy New Orleans, It took Corrupt Kwame to destroy Detroit!

The point of this article was to point out that Dantonio is acually starting to win recruits from Detroit, something that Smith and Williams could not do at all.
