How top 5 picks will roll

The top two picks in the draft are set, Ohio State's Greg Oden to Portland and Texas' Kevin Durant to Seattle. No one ever is quite sure what Atlanta will do, and Memphis seems to prefer Florida's Al Horford. At No. 5, Boston seems most likely to trade out of the top 10 because it's not certain Paul Pierce will even introduce himself to yet another rookie.

#3 Mike Conley- Atlanta needs a point guard
#4 Yi Jianlian- Great frontline partner with Gasol
#5 Al Horford- most NBA player not named Oden or Durant. Good frontline addition for Jefferson, Pierce, and Perkins.

most NBA ready player (Horford)....oops my bad

June 11, 2007  10:54 AM ET

This Oden guy looks high like a MuthaTrucka. The guy is only 19 yrs old, but looks like hes 45. LOL

June 11, 2007  11:02 AM ET

look for Portland to trade up to get Conley jr. It's been well stated that Oden wants the team he gets drafted by ,to trade for Conley jr. It also doesn't help that Conley's father is Oden's agent. So it kind of makes you wonder.

Hawks need an inside presence. They still have Claxton and Lue (although getting older) and Conley is no guarantee especially at 3. Drafts have been disasterous for the Hawks (still crying over not getting Paul) and they need to trade the 3 and get a much needed veteran in the middle. Then take Law at 11 if still there. This is a very important draft for the Hawks due to having 2 picks and some tradeable marketable players on their roster.

Another posibility is to trade down a little with the 3 pick, pick up a veteran player with the trade (although not a stud like the first scenario could be) then take Jianlian with the first pick and Law with the 2nd.

Bottom line is that if they screw this draft up, and with their track record it is a definite possibility, they will be in a hole that will take years to come out of.

June 11, 2007  11:04 AM ET

#3 Brandan Wright- Atlanta is showing HUGE interest in him
#4 Al Horford- Him and Gasol can switch positions consatntly on the post
#5 Mike Conley- Celtics WILL trade this pick to Portland

June 11, 2007  11:05 AM ET

What about trading Oden to the Bulls?

June 11, 2007  11:19 AM ET

Grizz poise to select Big Al 6'10" with the 4th pick in the 2007 draft. Also, on the table is a trade with the Hawks.

Pau Gasol to Atlanta for the # 3, & 11th pick.

June 11, 2007  11:25 AM ET

Oden to the bulls? No. Oden to Portland and stay in Portland...for a long time.

June 11, 2007  12:12 PM ET

The Hawks have to make some kind of trade ... they can't add two more lottery picks to the already young group of players they have .. ( both Williams, Joe J, Smith, Childress ... )

June 11, 2007  12:50 PM ET

Oden is set to be a major disappointment. He's got size and he's not a bad athlete, but watch him for five minutes and you can see he isn't really a basketball player. He'll be better than Kwame, but not as good as Yao. Portland should be brave and pick up Durant instead.

June 11, 2007  12:58 PM ET

Da celtics cant find no big man or a due over for the truth man they just cant find the right people at the right time maybe rashed lewis can be good and sign him but pretty much everyone got their picks set already i hope portland do get oden and hope they dont pull a dumb move like they did 4 MJ

June 11, 2007  01:01 PM ET

I like the idea of Celtics trading the #5 to Portland. Zach Randolph and Jarret Jack for Theo Ratliff, Delonte West, and the #5? Although Delonte West is really just like a poor man's Brandon Roy, and Zach Randolph is just a more experienced, less athletic version of Al Jefferson.

Celtics: Jefferson, Randolph, Paul Pierce, Tony Allen, Jack
Blazers: Oden, LaMarcus Aldridge, Travis Outlaw, Roy, Mike Conley Jr.

I guess it could work? Atlanta does need to pick up a better guy than Conley at #3. Al Horford (not Wright, they already have Marvin Williams) and then Acie Law or Javaris Crittenton at 11 sounds better than Conley plus whoever at 11.

Portland would trade their entire team away before trading Greg Oden.

June 11, 2007  01:07 PM ET

I think Portland's biggest need, after center, is at SF. If they do trade up, they should take Corey Brewer. Package Randolph and Outlaw or Miles to the Celtics and take Brewer with that pick. PG is taken care is Jarret Jack. He came a long way last year, is a heady floor leader and still shows upside. They don't need Conley, and Oden will be fine without him. Hawks should take Horford with the #3 and at 4 the Grizz should take either Yi or Wright, depending on who works out better. So top five:

1. Portland- Greg Oden
2. Seattle- Kevin Durant
3. Hawks- Al Horford
4. Grizz- Yi or Wright
5. Celtics- Corey Brewer (trade pick to Portland for Randolph and other crap)

June 11, 2007  01:09 PM ET

Also, although Portland got the top pick, Atlanta could be the team that improves the most due to this draft. They will address front court issues with Horford and PG issues with Law or Crittenton.

Can someone from Boston clarify for me why Pierce is anti-social toward rookies? Is he angry about rebuilding? This is the first I've seen it...just let me know.

June 11, 2007  02:35 PM ET

He's not anti-social to rookies. It's just the writer's way of saying he doesn't want to stick around for another rebuilding season. The guy went to the ECF with Antoine Walker, and every year since has been worse and worse until now they're the second worst team in the league with the fifth pick in a draft with only two franchise saviors.

Package the #5, Al Jefferson, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, and Wally Szczerbiak for Kevin Garnett and Ricky Davis.

June 11, 2007  03:11 PM ET

@Chendaddy
sorry, that would be a horrible trade. we don't need ricky back, he never did much for the celtics. the worst thing, though, would be losing big al. with the progress he made this past year, and his promise, it would be foolish. that kind of trade would just make the team older, and we don't have enough other pieces to make a championship run, so your giving up the future to make the second round of the playoffs? no thanks.

June 11, 2007  04:14 PM ET

i think oden will go to whatever team gives him crack, from the look of his picture hes been smoking it

June 11, 2007  04:18 PM ET

Hawks trade #3, Josh Smith, Speedy Claxton, and Shelden Williams to Lakers for Kobe Bryant. Lakers then trade #3 pick for Paul Pierce.
